Statement by CARICOM Chairman, Dr. Keith Rowley, on US situation

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is deeply saddened and concerned at the unprecedented scenes that unfolded at the Capitol Building in Washington DC, USA, during the certification of the votes of the presidential elections by the US Congress.

The storming of the US Congress was a gross affront to democracy and the rule of law in a country which has been viewed as a leading light of representative governance the world over.

CARICOM looks forward to the restoration of order and the continuation of the process of transfer of power in a peaceful manner.

At times, When you don’t answer a question when asked. Or when giving a speech and you don’t mention certain subjects when you should, still speaks volumes.
The democrats were burning and destroying their own cities. They were putting bottles of water in their freezer and they would attack the police with them .And these cities are controlled by democrats. At the same time the Democratic party was holding their convention. And not one mention of the vandalism. So those who are talking now, are the same ones who gave full support to the clowns and are all hypocrites.
They are on the same level with those who misbehaved on Wednesday.

    @Channel1

No one should condone unprovoked acts of violence. Black Lives Matter (BLM) was mostly peaceful but a relatively small number of anarchists infiltrated the organization with the deliberate intention to create havoc at some of the BLM’s protests.

Donald Trump is the present president. He should not create mayhem and darkness but be a guardrail to keep the wayward within the confines of the law. Your false equivalence argument is misguided. To defend Trump’s well calculated ploy of turmoil is tantamount to defending premeditated murder.

Just a reminder. Five(5) lives were lost senselessly during the breach of the Capitol building.

@Ibo France – I have not engaged any use of a false equivalence argumentative fallacy neither do I condone unprovoked acts of violence.

I will also not support hypocritical responses & reactions to similar situations. I note with interest that you said the BLM protests were largely peaceful but were infiltrated by a small number of anarchists. Ummm……..I would dispute your claim in places like Seattle for example.

Using your argument, I’ll also point out that the Jan. 6, 2021 protests by Trump supporters (‘some’ reports say near 1 million persons were [or were supposed to be present] were also largely peaceful apart from the storming of the Capitol building. ‘Some’ reports say a small group, maybe 50 or so persons – anarchists (your word from above) – instigated the storming of the building.

Also, could you point out to me where or when or how did Donald Trump incite the ‘anarchists’ to storm the US Capitol building as part of a well-calculated ploy?

Shut Up! Your organization is mostly useless. You are just trying to be relevant. Go a grow a spine.

When an entire unsuspecting, sleeping community was teargased in the unholy hours of the night by Mr. Skerrit and his servile lapdogs, not a murmur from any member of CARICOM. Don’t these people’s lives matter too?

    Parson christen his pickney first.

The mainstream media feeds the Negro and he simply regurgitates from it. Interesting: Caricom leaders can freely speak about America and not look at what’s happening in Africa? Is Caricom afraid of knowing the same way racist whites treat blacks with such disdain is in equal measure to blacks feeding upon their own?

The world sees what is going on in Ghana despite mainstream media’s hush on it. 5 DEAD in Nana’s re-election. The world also knows that Dominica’s best friend China, is a psychological human rights abuser to its own people, yet China sits in the highest seat as a permanent sitting member in the UN making Dominica’s pink clickity-clack, shoe teargas demolitionist look saintly. It gets very poisonous and very dirty, doesn’t it? That’s exactly what it is.

Kudos to Chastenet and Harris from St. Kitts for being the only voices to stand up for self-ruled Taiwan’s medical expert Chen. Kudos to Harris for properly utilizing the functions of an accounting…

Give me a break with the hypocrisy. Where were these sort of condemnations last year when Black Lives Matter, Antifa etc were burning down businesses & engaging in various forms of violence in the US?

Where were these condemnations back in late 2016 into 2017 when following the election of Donald Trump, numerous outbreaks of violent protests occurred in the US because Donald Trump was elected?

All of a sudden, these world leaders, Caribbean leaders find their voice to utter nice sounding phrases about democracy yadda yadda eh. [Herd mentality in full view].

So it wasn’t undemocratic when all those anti-Trump protests turned violent eh.

WHO IS/ARE ORCHESTRATING THESE THINGS? WHO IS/ARE THE PUPPET MASTER(S) OF THESE WORLD LEADERS?

Caricom is deeply saddened are you kidding me? What you saw is a marvel anywhere else in the world including Trinidad you would be still counting bodies, you should look and learn how to treat your citizens even if they are having badly or ask just the people of Salisbury what happened to them last year when they burn some tires, caricom soldiers descended on their village, bullets and gas on everyone, man, woman and child.
