The Dominica Labour Party expresses profound sadness at the passing of our dear comrade, former Deputy President, former Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency, and former Minister for Public Works, Hon. Ian Pinard.

Ian Pinard was a loyal servant of the Labour Party and a devoted son of the Soufriere Constituency. His contribution to national development, both in elected office and in executive leadership roles at Petro Caribe Dominica and the Dominica Air and Sea Ports Authority (DASPA), reflected a life committed to service, responsibility, and country.

Beyond his titles and achievements, Ian will be remembered for his humility, his simplicity, and his deeply compassionate nature. He was a man who carried authority with quiet strength—never seeking recognition, but always giving of himself. His warmth, his constant smile, and his genuine care for people left a lasting impression on all who encountered him.

Ian had a special connection with the people of Soufriere. He walked with them, worked for them, and loved them. He also took a personal interest in mentoring young men in his community, not only providing opportunities for employment, but instilling values of discipline, respect, and purpose. That legacy will live on in the many lives he
helped shape. The Dominica Labour Party recognizes this as a significant loss—not only to our organization, but to the wider national community.

Prime Minister and Political Leader of the Dominica Labour Party, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, stated: “Ian Pinard served with quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Dominica. He was a humble servant whose impact was felt not only in the offices he held, but in the lives he touched. His legacy of service and humanity will endure.”

The Dominica Labour Party extends sincere condolences to his wonderful family, especially his young children, the people of the Soufriere Constituency, his colleagues, and all who mourn his passing.

We stand in solidarity with you during this time of grief. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Well Skerrit mourned the deaths and buried the followings: Rosie, Pierro, John Fabien, Edward Registe, Osborn Reviere and now Ian Pinard. By now PM Skerrit has no doubt become the best mourner in the Caribbean . Six so far and one short of number 7, the perfect number. I wonder who will be number 7, how soon and what next will happen after number 7?

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 11
