Taliban push into capital of Afghanistan; president Ashraf Ghani flees

The Taliban are on the brink of victory in Afghanistan, after their fighters entered the capital Kabul and seized the presidential palace.

According to a BBC report, the government has collapsed, with President Ashraf Ghani fleeing abroad.

Kabul descended into chaos, as residents and foreign nationals tried to escape.

For many Afghans it was a terrifying day that marked the return of Taliban rule almost 20 years after they were ousted by a US-led coalition.

At the capital’s international airport, an eyewitness told the BBC that staff had abandoned their desks and people were running to planes.

Kabul was the last major city in Afghanistan to hold out against the Taliban offensive, which began months ago but has accelerated in the space of days.

The militants were able to seize control after most foreign troops pulled out.

US President Joe Biden has defended the withdrawal of American troops, saying he could not justify an “endless American presence in the middle of another country’s civil conflict”.

Some are already in Dominica in strategic locations. They love CARICOM. Easy to assimilate and move around.

Afghanistan is called the graveyard of empires for a reason. Over the years numerous countries have tried to pacify the country and impose their will and way of life on the country. The country is impossible to rule because it is composed of numerous tribes. The Chinese failed the Persians failed the British failed the Russians failed and now the United States has failed. What gave the American politicians the ides that they could impose their ideas and beliefs on Afghanistan. When are they going to learn when they failed to accomplish what numerous countries failed to do. Russia pulled out of Afghanistan in the late 1980′ s with their tail between their legs after losing around 13,000 soldiers. The British left Afghanistan in the 1920’s after losing around 5,000 soldiers at the Khyber pass ambush. Trying to rule Afghanistan is a lost cause not worth the blood and treasure. This is just like Vietnam years of war and nothing accomplished. Only military weapons makers benefited.

After nearly 20 years, the world seems to have returned back to square one with the Taliban and the potential threat of terrorism – Al Qaeda, ISIS.

This pull out of US forces was put in play by the Trump administration but I highly doubt the pull out was supposed to have been rolled out in this highly incompetent, disgraceful, nonsensical manner as executed under the watch and terms of the Biden administration. I recall when Trump came into power, he wasted no time in implementing effective hard-hitting measures to destroy ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

I hope the world clearly heard a Taliban individual say their ultimate goal is for the flag of Islam to fly across the entire world. Those who think that Islam is a peaceful religion are either horrendously deceived or are pretending to be blind. BEWARE!!!
