NOAA and Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft data indicate that Tammy has become a hurricane as of earlier today. The maximum winds are estimated to be 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts.
Dominica has now been placed under a hurricane watch which means that hurricane conditions are possible within the next 24 to 36 hours, most likely making landfall this weekend between late Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Flooding rains and heavy winds are anticipated in the Leeward Islands and Northern Windward Islands bringing with them the possibility of flash flooding, mudslides in higher terrain, and surges in coastal areas.
Public officers have been relieved of posts as of 1 p.m. today and private sector employers were urged to release staff no later than 4 p.m.
Well, no money is going to come for hurricane damage because Tammy was a darling she left Dominica untouched. Somebody’s hope will have to wait until, who knows? The UN needs a break from the crying crocodile 🐊 of Dominica.
