The late Kevin Angol remembered for his ‘sterling contribution’ as a teacher at the Convent High School

Just a few days into the beginning of the new school year, CHS finds itself in a state of mourning as it remembers and honours the life and contributions of one of its cherished educators, Kevin F. Angol .The Convent High School (CHS) community is mourning the loss of one of its cherished educators, Mr. Kevin F. Angol, who passed away on September 7, 2023. At the young age of 28, Angol’s untimely departure has left a void at the CHS, and his memory is being celebrated for the profound impact he made on the school, its staff, and students.

In a poignant announcement posted on the school’s Facebook page, CHS expressed the depth of their sorrow, stating, “This is a difficult moment for CHS. And we cannot even fathom that for his mom Ms. Josephine Lewis.”

Angol is said to have joined the CHS family in 2014, during which he left his mark. His passion for teaching shone through in the subjects he specialized in—Physics, Mathematics, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Beyond his role as an educator, the school shared that Angol played a pivotal role in maintaining CHS’s online network, ensuring the seamless operation of the school’s technological infrastructure.

“Whether he taught a student or not, you’d become familiar when he put his cape on and saves [saved] our day from Internet and technology woes,” the post stated. The school affectionately referred to him as “DJ Boyle’s Law” a nod to his musical talents, which he generously shared at CHS activities and assemblies.

In addition to his teaching and musical contributions, Angol took on the responsibility of timetabling CHS staff and subjects, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the school’s daily activities.

“A gentle giant, funny, hard-working, determined, committed. Kevin… this is so hard…this is unbelievable. But as people who look to the Lord, this is not the end. We send condolences to his mom and family,” the school wrote.

In the wake of Angol’s passing, condolences have poured in on social media from various members of society, including the Dominica State College, where his mother serves as the academic advisor.

“Josephine, your DSC family is here to support you through this unimaginable time of grief. May the beautiful memories of Kevin bring you comfort and solace during this dark hour. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we stand by your side as you navigate this difficult journey,” the tertiary institution wrote.
