Thirty-two families in Wesley, affected by construction of international airport, now housed

PM Skerrit with Wesley resident

The government of Dominica has successfully housed thirty-two families in the Joe Burton Housing Development in Wesley.

These homes were constructed for persons who were affected by the development of the new airport.

During a tour of the housing development yesterday, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said these families who were beneficiaries, did not have to pay any cost.

“Thirty-two homes were constructed for families affected by the construction of the international airport. We have built these homes for these individuals, no cost to them, and the value of what they received now is way higher than what they had,” he said.

The PM also revealed that the telephone lines and poles were built underground as part of resilience building.

“There are no telephone lines, DOMLEC poles; all of this infrastructure is underground as part of our resilience building so in the event a hurricane comes here to affect the transmission lines this will be the first community in Wesley that will have electricity.”

He revealed the homes cost $400,000 each.

Apart from the homes built for families, he reported that several individuals opted for cash in exchange for personal properties.

He said the government has tried its best to make people as happy and comfortable as possible.

“For persons who were squatting and doing agriculture on people’s lands in respect to crop compensation, we paid them for their crop compensation,” Skerrit added.

The Prime Minister further stated that a 500,000-gallon water tank was built in the community, an upgrade from a 20,000-gallon capacity.

“We need to provide water to this community as part of our mandate and the greater Wesley community had an issue with water at some point, so we have expanded the water project,” he sated.

In terms of agriculture, he stated the government is continuing to sign leases for farmers, making land available to them.

Here we go again, now we know that Jacka has no been to Dominica in a long time. This Jacka does not know a lot of Damage was done by falling trees, electrical poles and lines during Maria.Go to Roseau and see the mess from overhead cables.I have said before you waste too much time in the prostitute section on FIGUEROA street in Los Angeles. We do not need, not do we want your advice. The level of stupidity invested in those bums is beyond normal understanding.A person is renting a house for $1,000 monthly, the government gives that person a $400,000 house Free, only a complete Jacka would talk about deed.Dominica is not like section 8 in the USA where the state pay your rent.Your BS about deed is just pure BS coming from a bshi….The reason you continue to be irrelevant is because your high- lever of stupidity know no bounds.A $1,000 monthly rent that is what thousands of Dominicans save because of Skerrit and the CBI.People who were RENTING are now living in MANSIONS rent free.

But, you know the term idiosyncrasy has different meanings, but it might describe you as one behaving as an idiot! Wherever you are you are one of Dominica’s biggest fraud! One time you claim to be in military, in military, if you are in the United States military, or Canadian, print your real name and see how fast I can prove you to be a bit of fart or nothing.

You write the same nonsense over and over, about 400,000.00 dollar house in Dominica and you go one now to mention Figueroa, and prostitute in Los Angeles; for your information guy I know Figueroa street complete running North to South in Los Angeles, and can tell you the average property on that street is more than a million dollars, and mind you fool on the northern part of that street, properties a in the ten and fifteen million dollar range not mentioning the very large hotels downtown on the same street.
You are pretending to be somebody, you are a damn dog!

There should not be any prostitute in Dominica, with a population of less than fifty thousand people, unfortunately while the thieving politicians, and other citizens became billionaires on the sale of passports young women prostitute themselves. Young boys too into homosexuality, because there is no work for them to do.
You think when you mentioned Figueroa and prostitute I would be impressed that you know Los Angeles, I could care less: People like the Late Sam Cook got himself killed in a Motel on that Street.
By the way, anybody who wish to know something about any city or place on this planet, all they have to do is google; information will be at arms reach! You talking crap about house in Dominica, you are saying the people do not deserve them, and without Roosevelt they would still be living under plastic tents. You need to get your damn head open! Both you and Skerrit need to get your head open, and since you know L.A. so well come look for me let me burst a cork in your…

I listened to Ugly Lenny with the media whore on q95.This ugly guy is continuing to lie to the people.Every smart person know the CBI is a programme that is operated in stages. There are a number of CBI agents including CMC.The government of Dominica recieves a percentage under the CBI programme.Ugly is giving stupid people the impression that all monies from the CBIprogramme goes to Roosevelt Skerrit.LIE.Our constitution say if Dominica make or get money for a specific purpose it DOE have to go into the consolidated fund. The $53,000,000 for construction of the Layou 5 Star Hotel did not go in no consolidated fund. When Duncan Stowe became a CBI agent they called him a traitor and ,on the night of February 7th 2017 they daycallay his house in Roseau,on the a the advice of Ugly and others. When Ugly say Skerrit has $4.5 billion hidden from the sale of OUR passports is just BS.It is the same lies, fake news and false information that have UWP where it is today. In the yard.

Glad to learn that the government is following through on their commitment to the residents of Wesley namely to provide housing to those persons who chose to receive a new house as well as cash payments to other residents who selected the cash option. Additionally, there was also compensation made to persons who were doing agriculture.

The houses each cost $400,000. I am certain the relocated residents will appreciate the brand-new modern style structures they’re now receiving to replace the older structures that they used to have given the fact that the houses are valued a whole lot more and it didn’t cost them anything. What a steal…

Hope all the parties involved in this process are satisfied and were able receive adequate compensation for their properties at Wesley.

“The PM also revealed that the telephone lines and poles were built underground as part of resilience building.”

Although it is more esthetically pleasing to have the cables run underground, it will do the residents no good if the poles that feed the area are knocked down during bad weather.

Everything Roosevelt does, as I have often said, is politically expedient. Yesterday’s tour at the proposed site of the new airport was to create headlines away from Dominica’s scandalous involvement with the crypto billionaire, one Mr. Sun. It has worked perfectly for him with the credulous, unsophisticated, local media houses salivating over walking in the company of the Butcher of Wesley.

Many are suffering badly while waiting to be made whole. What about those who had invested heavily in business and now get no patronage as there are no patrons? Meanwhile, they have to repay their loans to the lending institutions.

The suffering continues unabated. People rejoicing over a ghost airport and can’t buy rice.

@Ibo France, I’m sure i can recall you saying it was fake news when the PM first announced that his International Airport plans were coming into fruition. Now that he took you on a tour to see the actual work in progress, you still saying de man using that as a distraction. What is wrong with you man? You seriously need to get your head sorted. You too full of hate.

“There are no telephone lines, DOMLEC poles; all of this infrastructure is underground as part of our resilience building so in the event a hurricane comes here to affect the transmission”

Roosevelt shut to F. up, have you given any of the recipients a deed of trust, or in general a title deed for the property?

If those are built by Montreal Management which is your company, the house you are sitting in belongs to you, show us a picture for all the people receiving their title deed and then we may believe they own those houses,

And let me tell you something just because electrical wires and telephone wires are channel under ground, that has nothing to do with resilience anything, because the world over cable carrying electricity, and telephone wires are run underground, vulnerably to water and soil erosion!
These days telephone transmission are done via Wy-Fi and Satellite transmission from thousand of miles out of space, so your crap about resilient is simple crap!

        April 6, 2023

If lbo, and I were supporting thievery and corruption, like you and was selling passports to make certain thief rich we would not be tagged haters!

Guy don’t you know in order to hate someone the hater has to make up their mind to be consumed and meet their demised because of the hate they entertain for someone.

Hate and jealousy kills the perpetrators of hate and jealously. What progress do you see in Dominica?

Progress can only be accomplished by people being employed, and taxes extracted from their pay cheque causing revenue to flow into the treasury, thus the government can operate.

An economy should not be based on the sale of passports.

I see your friend Lin Clown that fake bit of feces talking about Los Angeles, tell him to come look for me, let me get the opportunity to burst a cork in his head, and open it!

Francisco, in case you forgot, this is Dominica. Anyone who owns any property on island will tell you that getting a title is a slow process. The families just received the keys so be patient my friend, their titles will soon come.

There is no way in hell that the government can take away the peoples’ property (eminent domain) and then turn around and leave them high and dry. Dominica is not a socialist country so quit the silly stuff about Montreal Management owning the properties.

You’re just being a little facetious here but deep down you know it’s just a matter of time before these families receive their titles.

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
        April 6, 2023

Mark, why should the process be slow, it not as if there are millions of people residing in Dominica!

By the time they decide to hand the keys to the occupant, the title deed, or deed of trust should be given to the people, for without that they have nothing!

Mark, since I came to Los Angeles, I’ve bought and sold properties, and even if the new owner got the money via mortgage through a bank or Real Estate lender (a mortgage company), the day Escrow closes, a bill of sale and deed of trust is handed to the owner.

The problem is in Dominica is people like to drag their feet, somebody have to always go to Mr., and Miss this on bending knees to get what is legally due to them, the politician must be involve, and so they screw people for years to ensure the vote.

Dominica contains a handful of people, things should not take as long to come to fruition.

          April 8, 2023

Francisco, you hit the nail right on the head, “Dominicans like to drag their feet” and they behave like they’re doing you a favor while performing the job they’re being paid to do. Very poor work ethics in Dominica. We need to do better.

More bla bla bla from the know-it-all. You and Ibo France seem to be jealous of Skerrit. Everyday is the same mundane crap from you both. Change the beat. Give us some spouge music and turn off that crude rap music of yours. What can you both do to help the people of Dominica out of your so-called misery and poverty. You live in Los Angeles and all you do is belch bubbles everyday, day in day out. Neither Thomas Fontaine nor Lennox Linton will ever become the PM of Dominica. Not on this earth, not on the next one. It will take another Maurice Bishop which neither of you are. You both are not healthy, not charismatic, not handsome, not eloquent, not magnetic. You both are two bums, scums of the earth. You two don’t even represent earth day which was a couple weeks ago. Nonentities. Insignificant. Neither here nor there. Washed-out.

One thing I have to say to you is this, neither Lennox Linton, nor Thomson Fountain are thieves, they never thief anything from you or any Dominican, nor have they stolen anything in their life.

But, the other corrupted boy that damn thief, he cannot survive without stealing: he’s a damn thief oui!
If the only people who can be prime minister in Dominica are thieves, so be it; they are already in command as the head thief of the country: You are so illiterate, that you think if you continue to speak about Maurice Bishop, that will make you appear smart.
Maurice Bishop was a damn communists, his own communists friends murdered him. I doubt the two greats Lennox and Thomson would want to be a communist as Maurice was!
Dog Sh.. you need to shut up, if Maurice was not an communists idiot he would have known his enemies such as Winston Bernard Coard his deputy, in their so called Grenada Revolution rise under his nose and assassinated him!
Would LL & TF be that dumb?
        Hell no!

ds, tell me what does Roosevelt have that money can buy, that I personally do not have or can buy?
And mind you ds, I am not a thief!
Any person who jealous vagabonds, thieves and scoundrels for what they see them have must be a fool.
ds, people like me work for what we have we do not steal be it government, money; sale of passport, nor through money laundering, or from crooks using Dominica as a safe haven!
If I own a dime, if I have one dime in a bank, I worked for that dime; and I don’t have any money in shell companies, nor in business in Barbados, nor have I ever sold crabs to build villas amounting to millions of dollars in cost.
Dominica, is the only place people who are friends to politicians on the plateau can become rich by selling crab since they were a little boy so they got rich from selling crab.
When I was a little boy in Dominica, my grandmother, and I caught crab to eat, poor boy: if I knew there were millions to be in crab I’d catch and become rich in…
