Britain’s APD response ‘a slap in the face’ for Caribbean

St Kitts and Nevis Minister of Tourism and International Transportation Ricky Skerritt

The British government’s announcement on Tuesday that it will continue to discriminate against the Caribbean in relation to the banding aspect of the Air Passenger Duty (APD) system, has been described as “a slap in the face for all Caribbean people.”

In a 26-page document published on Tuesday, the British government said that APD rates to Caribbean destinations will continue to be considerably higher than those to some competitor destinations.

Pure discrimination if you ask me. For many generations the UK had colonies in the Caribbean. They never invested in the Caribbean, they took everything they could have gotten and when they were done they spit us out on the world’s stage naked, empty, and dependent.

The last thing they did for us was the banana and even that they took away on the behest of the USA. It is nothing but the old boys network looking out for each other.

All they trying to do is make it easier for the british tourist to go to the USA rather than the Caribbean. But these are the same people that tell us to discriminate against Cuba and Venezuela for them.

It is the New World Order man. These ‘big’ countries now realize that they going down economically and that a lot of little third world countries are starting to rise up. They are scared and desperate.

We Caribbean people have got to stick together.
