Dominica victorious at first ever Whalefest

A whale dives off the coast of Dominica

Dominica was victorious in the first ever WhaleFest held in Brighton, UK in November 2011.

Whalefest is an event designed to showcase the experience of whale and dolphin watching. The weekend long event attracted over 2500 people, participating in speeches from wildlife celebrities and world-known whale and dolphin experts, activities such as marine mammal medic training courses and lots more.

Carla Armour, representative for Dominica and Caribwhale, participated in a “Clash of the Titans” fundraising event which allowed for four wildlife-loving celebrities to present on their favorite place in the world and tried to convince the audience that their chosen destination was the very best in the world.

Victory was awarded to Carla after five-rounds of educating and answering questions from the audience. She received the total of 53 votes from the audience with the closest opponent receiving 23.

The Discover Dominica Authority was very pleased in assisting Caribwhale in participating in this event and look forward to other such events where we can speak to a captive audience and entice them to visit the destination.
