MV Mein Schiff 2 makes its inaugural call into Dominica

Dominica is once again pleased to welcome to its shores another new ship from TUI Cruise Lines, the MV Mein Schiff 2.  The sister ship of the MV Mein Schiff will grace our shores on November 15th 2011, at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth. The ship is scheduled to make a total of eleven (11) calls for the cruise season 2011/2012.

The 866 feet long vessel carries a maximum capacity of 1886 passengers, with a gross tonnage of 77,713. Its port of registry is Valetta, Malta. The MV Mein Schiff 2 is scheduled to call into Grenada prior to Dominica, and will then sail on to St. John’s Antigua. A brief welcome ceremony will be held on board the ship on Tuesday November 15th 2011, at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth, at 10:00am, with government officials, tourism stakeholders, representatives from Discover Dominica Authority and the media.

Discover Dominica Authority and the Ministry of Tourism continue to urge all stakeholders to play their respective roles in ensuring that the overall guest experience is positive and enhanced during the ship’s visits.

good news small ships are better for the preservation of our natural beauty. good ridden to the big cruise ships. sure they bring large amounts of tourist but those tourist spend very little to offset the affect that they have on our beautiful island. more important those big cruise ships will destroy our island than move on the the next island leaving us with less than when they first came to our shores. responsible tourism is a must and that is more likely to happen with smaller ships. http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/traveler-magazine/tales-from-the-frontier/cruises/
