The Discover Dominica Authority and the Dominica Watersports Association (DWA) welcomed representatives and management of SeaLife to Dominica this past weekend. The company’s management and sales representatives, based throughout the United States, arrived on island on August 27 to test their new equipment, conduct their annual meeting and meet with local dive operators. SeaLife has been long sponsors of Dominica’s dive activities and suppliers for many of the island dive operators.
For the past four (4) years, SeaLife has sponsored the annual Dive Fest activities and provided underwater cameras for this event. Underwater photo shoots and a “Best of the Week” photo contest is held every year during Dive Fest using solely SeaLife cameras. SeaLife cameras allow for the diver at any level to be able to capture the incredible life found underwater.
The continued partnership is expected to expose more persons to the potential of Dominica in the dive industry and increase the awareness of the island. While on island the group will be diving with local operators, visiting some of the unique attractions on the island and meeting with the local dive operators and members of the DWA.
This opportunity presents a time for the local dive operators to develop relationships with the SeaLife representatives and increase awareness of the product and destination as the best diving location in the Caribbean.
This venture is possible thanks to the support and sponsorship of many of our local partners – Anchorage Hotel & Dive Centre, Sunset Bay Club & Dive Centre, KHATTS, Cool Breeze Tours, Archipelago Trading and the members of DWA.
The Discover Dominica Authority continues to work with journalists, travel agents and tour operators in its various overseas markets to ensure that the island receives as much exposure as possible in an effort to attract visitors to the island.
Colin Piper, Director of Tourism, Discover Dominica Authority, added, “The local dive operators are an essential part of the diving product. They are the ones who can ensure that the visitors/diver receives a top-quality experience. This is a key component to ensure the continuation of growth within the industry. We continue to encourage and applaud them for their continued support of the industry, their participation in the various activities conducted by the Tourism Authority and their willingness to work together to ensure that Dominica is the destination of choice for any Caribbean vacation and diving experience.”
