Track facility will assist Dominican athletes to compete, says PM Skerrit

PM Skerrit

Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit said that the new synthetic track that is being planned will place athletes in a better position to compete globally.

Prime Minister Skerrit disclosed at a recent press briefing, “The government is advancing the track which is a priority and we have identified, as you know, the location for this track based on the soil testing there, that is in Pointe Round. And we have to move with the final acquisition processes for this track.”

“However, the International Athletic Association has given commitment to the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) and the Dominica Athletic Association (DAA) for some limited funding that will go towards this track. So we are looking to partner with DOC and the Athletic Association through Mr. Brendon Williams who will be leading the process along with the president of the DOC on this matter,” Prime Minister Skerrit added.

Meantime, several Dominican athletes have recently performed exceptionally at their respective games making the country proud. Athletes such as Thea Lafond, created history as the first Dominican to win a gold medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Also, Addison James captured a bronze medal at the 51st CARIFTA Games in St. Georges Grenadain the Under 20 boys Javelin competition.

Mr. Skerrit further expressed that he is confident that very soon some physical movements will be seen where the track for athletes is concerned. He said, “Dominican athletes possess raw talent, we do have the capacity and the next push is to provide them with that facility and hope they can make use of this facility to really get them to the next level.”

He noted “ In our view, this is one of the few missing points where sports is concerned, in terms of the government investments in sports in Dominica. So we look forward to completing and coming full circle with our investments in sports in Dominica. “

I dont know what happen to my people in dominica we have a government in that country that lie so much to people is unbelievable. These guys travel to countries and see things when they get back home they lie so much is like they dont see nothing when they travel.
The people from dominica watch basket ball so much they even have teams and players they support, but they let blackmore build a basket ball garage in the middle of the major road in massacre and by an airport where you never know what could happen, what a damm shame .
None of these guys in government have no interest in sports they just have a good talk lie on lies, from the big garage straight into a major road. I live in the US and no government would approve of building a sporting facility in the middle of a major road and by an airpport , emergencies occurs. Dominican read between the lines. Blackmore is one of those dotish minister you have in Dominica, Woman abuser .

Not only that, the 3 cricket plays were only considered and selected AFTER the exit of Emmanuel Nanton, Skerrit’s dear friend, advisor and business associate who sat on the board for years and never made a move to have a Dominican player represent the nation of the West Indies team.

This is a guy (a LIAR), that has been a parliamentarian for 24 years, and Prime Minister for 20 years, babbling a lot of toxic air about a track now. One has to ask what was he doing? Why that HATRED against the young people of Dominica? Why did he truncate the hopes and aspirations of so many young people! The way Skerrit babbles his utterances, one would swear that he has just assumed office for the first time, OMG. He declared war on playing field islandwide: Bellevue Chopin, Mahaut, Cockrane, Castle Bruce, etc, etc. The saddest thing is the inveterate liar expects praises after he has dealt this debilitating blow on the aspirations of so many young people.

Absolute and complete rubbish. Why not take the time to properly develop Benjamin;s Park PROPERLY instead of allowing what they recently did there. Why did it not include a track where all the athletes in the north come to play anyway. This new proposition to bring a track to point round is total nonsense and a waste of money. We cannot even fiinish develop windsor park to include the “state of the art” sporting facility, instead to made Chinese live there behind the windsor park. I stronglyoppose this nonsensical idea feller is proposing. Who is going to leave portsmouth and roseau to come to run on a track at point round? For you to agree you developing a new industrial site there so manufacturers and agro processors in the north and north east can produce at better standards with enough space for them to increase their productive capacity there, you decide is money you have to waste on a track? How is that going to make money for the country? YOU IDIOT!!!???

The two key words in the statement made by the perpetual Liar for me is ‘being planned’. The perpetual Life’s (Roosevelt) plans are built on sand. Anything built on sand cannot stand. Here is a few reminders:
*he planned to exit the taxpayers $64K monthly rental palace over two years
*he planned to replace RUSM with an equally prestigious Pakistani university
*planned to make Dominica the food basket of the region
*planned to locate the missing $6B CBI funds and put Mr. Lennox Linton to shame

Roosevelt’s plans remind me of mermaids and unicorns. They are completely divorced from reality.
