Trump convicted on 34 felony counts, skirts jail time

In a landmark decision, a New York judge has declined to impose any penalties on former President Donald Trump following his conviction on 34 felony counts related to a hush-money scheme. The verdict marks a remarkable turn of events, given that Trump was found guilty by a jury on all charges, yet his conviction will not jeopardize his return to the White House, marking a departure from previous norms.

The sentence handed down by Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan has effectively put an end to the case, allowing Trump to avoid the threat of imprisonment or fines. This decision has sparked debate about the implications for the former president’s future and the separation of powers in the US.

Merchan’s ruling has been reported as a strategic move to sidestep constitutional concerns surrounding Trump’s potential pardon power as president. By not imposing a sentence, he has avoided encroaching on the executive branch’s authority. According to the judge, while he must consider aggravating factors when sentencing any defendant, Trump’s impending presidency presents a unique circumstance that outweighs all others.

Even if Hon Alibaba had committed any of the above, there wouldn’t be an arrest, a charge, a case, a guilty verdict or sentencing for him and many of those of you that criticizing the US justice system would be on DNO defending Hon Alibaba

At least he is officially known to the world as a convicted felon in office which by itself is bad enough for the office of the US president. While some might say the US is not free and some are above the law, the ruling itself plus the title as a convicted is enough to convince me that the US is a real country, unlike the mess we have in Dominica, caused by one man and nolaw no constitution, no police, no magistrate, no judge, no pastor or Priest can call him out, let alone to sentence him.

So DNO waited a whole day after AP called the election for Trump to post an article that put his victory secondary to the opinion of some organisation nobody has ever heard of. They posted an article labelling the attempted assassination of Trump as a “shooting” at one of his rallies.

Now this bogus conviction is made and they could barely wait to post the headline. Really shows where the bias lies. But the good thing is that this means literally nothing. Nobody cares about this bogus case because they know it’s lawfare being used against a political opponent of the democrat party.

Only people who hate Trump will get any type of satisfaction out of this but it will only last a few days because with the way 2025 is going it’s probably going to take only that long for some new thing to reset the news cycle.

@hmm. I hope you can find a rock big enough to hide under, where ever you are living in the US. Trump promised from day one he will be deporting millions from the US whether documented or not. As long as your face doesn’t fit. Judging by your sentiments of this racist criminal, you consider yourself one of those ‘Blacks For Trump’ who helped vote him back in power. You will soon discover the folly of your thinking. Looking forward to seeing you escorted off the plane back in DA.

The term “equal justice under law” in America is as farcical as the misleading concept of “the American dream”. Financial standing and societal status rule when it come to full accountability or lack thereof in the American judicial system.

Unprecedented! A felon instead of serving serious time behind bars will shortly occupy the zenith of political power in the U.S. This is the biggest irony of ironies. The world has gone berserk.

Just imagine, a septuagenarian who cannot put two current sentences together, who was convicted of thirty four (34) counts of fraud, who nonchalantly uses bigoted words and phrases, is president of the most powerful country in the world.

The question is, should we respect him? Money rules! “A dog with money is called Mr. Dog.”

No he does not deserve respect. The country is run by Elon Musk. Give it time we will watch and see. 34 Felonies and still the president. America has gone to the dogs. The world is laughing at them. Do you believe it no punishment and still wants a clean slate, he is going to appeal the decision… The world we live in.

Madness! Total madness!! Imagine this serial law breaker has the nuclear codes at his finger tips. Even before his inauguration he is stirring up tension with Panama, Mexico, Canada, Greenland, the Middle East, China, European Union. The man is a loose cannon who gets titillated by engaging in sabre rattling.

@ ibo France, that’s american law and wether you respect it or not that’s how it is. In 1920 Eugene Debs ran for president from a prison cell, he did not win but if he had he would be moved to the White House. Trump was convicted in May so his status as a convicted felon was known 6 month before election day, yet over 77 million Americans turned out to vote
for him, American voters also gave him control of
both houses of congress…..so who are we to talk!

America is as corrupt, and maybe more corrupt than most countries in the world except Ukraine. This is the country which touts itself as a great democracy, and wage war on defenceless countries with DEMOCRACY as its excuse.
Well if Hunter Biden can be pardoned with his involvement with BURISMA in Ukraine, an involvement which brought MILLIONS to the BIDEN’S , Trump can be pardoned too! The saying that noone is above the law is nonsensical. Some people are above the law, like Joe Biden and Trump himself, both clearly deserving of extensive jail time. I am not a fan of neither one nor the other.
    A nasty country America is!

Hunter was not tried for BURISMA. He lied about being on drugs when he purchased the gun. He cheated the IRS which he paid back, what does one have to do with the other. He was not running for election. Was never a candidate. Trump is the scum of the earth. We will sit back and let him go after Greenland , Canada and the Panama canal. He is unable to fulfill his promises of lowering cost for the American people he has to try something else. Look closely these next four years. The truth will speak for itself.
