BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Ubuntu Awakening Summit 2024 opens the door to Umnotho (Prosperity)

The Ubuntu Awakening Summit, organised by Umoja Generational Wealth Company began Monday, February 5, 2024, with a Pre-Launch and ended on Thursday, February 08, 2024, with an African-dress-code Gala dinner. The event was staged at Christar Villas Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. The event themes underpinning the Summit were Ubuntu economics, culture, and history.

From the Summit agenda it is clear that “The Why” is the reason for the “Awakening.”

The Summit literature heralded the “first ever event of its kind where the visionaries reverse the triangle journey, leading our brothers and sisters in the diaspora spiritually, mentally and physically to connect and return.”

Umoja Generational Wealth (UGW) specialises in asset-based wealth creation utilising Ubuntu principles.

Today, the African Diaspora numbers about 400 million across the globe.

Then, one of the key ports of no return was Sao Tomé (Portuguese colonial) and then through Ghana, Nigeria (British Colonials). The Ubuntu Awakening Summit represents the action of reversing the Trans-Atlantic Enslavement Trade chattel enslavement first started by the Arabs, and then the Portuguese, Spanish, British, German, Dutch, etc.

As stated by Team member Jacqui Burnett (UK), who chaired 2 of the 3 days of the programme, “Our people did not get here overnight, with Arab slavery in the East (1100 yrs) and 400 yrs of chattel enslavement in the west. This is a journey…we must set the foundation for our return.”

The impact of the Summit from the pre-launch to the end was underscored by a peaceful, heartfelt drumming and vibration, perfectly executed by the Boboshanti of the Ethiopian African Black International Congress (EABIC), located in Bobo Hill, Kingston, Jamaica. When combined with the Prayers of Mut Rosa Natalino, Kemetic Priestess of Kasa de Ma’at, at the beginning of each session, the audience could feel and see that the Inner Spiritual reparation was well underway and was the necessary pre-requisite called for during one of the Question & Answer sessions.

Keynote Speakers carried the message of the Summit to the Jamaican people and by extension to the world.

Day 1 (Tuesday) saw Panel discussions led by Mistress of Ceremony Jacqui Burnett (UK) and moderator Jose Santiago (Ubuntu Finance Strategist.) The Opening speaker was Dr Arikana Chiombori-Quao (Mama Africa), former African Union ambassador to the United States. Pi Ratio (Mathematician, UK) talked of fundamental human origins from the “Black Woman’s Womb likening it to zero” and told those assembled that the study of numbers has allowed him to locate the“Hue-man Code,” the title of his current book on Amazon.

Business Symposium – Mistress of Ceremony: Theresa Hatchett, Moderator Ubuntu Economics with a Keynote from Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao (Mama Africa.) Dr Arikana challenged Jamaica, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe to stop importing food from former colonisers, and to instead develop processing plants to turn fruits falling off trees into juices to be marketed. She asked, “ What is wrong with us?”

Encouraging greater unity, Dr Arikana, told delegates to imagine if five million out of 400 million African diaspora began donating $100 USD to a cause for 1 year, we would have billions.

Day 2 (Wednesday) saw two panels. A major economic panel on The Role of Ubuntu Economics saw Pi Ratio, Nana Obudazie Oduwa I (USA) and José Santiago, Ubuntu Finance Strategist (STP) keynote the panel, with Gisele Mwepu, CEO of Okapi Finance (DRC.)

Gisele Mwepu revealed that 80% of Africa is unbanked, as are 67% of women, and these facts had stimulated the formation of her business. She said: “The whole idea of Okapi started with the need I felt to help people to easily and securely access basic financial services- pay bills or transfer money.”

José Santiago encouraged delegates to spend money with their own. He encouraged everyone to start saving 20% of their earnings and to read the book ‘The Richest Man in Babylon’ by George Samuel Clason. The focus of the Ubuntu Economics panel was to present the issues, find solutions, and invest in the opportunities.

The second main panel was a Youth Keynote: Wode Maya (Ghana), Vlogger, and Global Media Influencer spoke on the topic “Our Youth-Our Future” alongside influential guest speaker Steven Golding, President of UNIA-ACL.

Wednesday’s all-day Symposium ended in an amazing Circle of Fire session facilitated by Mut Rosa. A circle of males and females was formed and moved in a particular rhythm, a mantra “Ase, Ase Mama Africa” was chanted over Boboshanti drumming, the result of this ritual empowerment was captured by Wode Maya on his vlog, which included Jamaican singers singing Harambe (Rita Marley); Redemption Song (Bob Marley), “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (“Awimbawe”) and Miriam Makeba’s ‘Pata Pata’ (1966). These favourite songs of the diaspora heightened the mystical flow of the trance-like experience.

King Bishop Joshua Maponga III

Day 3 (Thursday) saw the highly anticipated session from King Bishop Joshua Maponga III (Zimbabwe) which was rescheduled following unprecedented travel delays of two and a half (2.5) days including visa issues which took 7.5 hours just to have the passport stamped. The trials to attend were more than rewarded in the benefit to Summit attendees. The audience sat riveted during the high-powered and fascinating presentation by King Maponga who taught delegates the rudiments of African life, culture, and the three estates: of mind, of reproduction, and most importantly of land. He tackled the reality of time, which he called an illusion. King Maponga left the audience spellbound.

He offered this timeless saying: “ Time is present. I am because we are. Ancestors are alive and well in our bodies, constantly whispering to you. We have today to conquer. ”

José Santiago on behalf of Umoja Generational Wealth concluded this first inaugural Ubuntu Awakening Summit in Kingston by inviting delegates to attend the next Summit being held in Sao Tome in 2025. He also outlined future plans to go to Ghana, Haiti, Nigeria, Barbados, Brazil, and other countries, while returning to Jamaica for a follow-up.

Feedback from attendees included the following spiritual Call to Unity: “One Love and thank you for making it to Jamaica, here we come. Ase O! Ase O! Mama Africa we are ready for the return home! ”
