Truck drivers in Dominica continue protest actions in the Canefield area.
Presently there is still no vehicular access from the Old Mill Cultural Centre to the Auto Trade area.
A number of motorists were unable to travel into Roseau and certain parts of the Canefield area.
DNO understands that the road leading to Donkey Beach is completely blocked.
Truckers began protest actions earlier this morning, parking several trucks in the vicinity of the Canefield Industrial Site to demonstrate their concern over what they say is a lack of employment for them, with spokespersons alleging that jobs are being handed out to foreigners.
Protesters are saying that the protest will go on until their demands are addressed.

That in the quote is stale rhetorical nonsense: we saw that same old movie on more than one occasion! It’s one thing to gripe, complain, and block roads, accomplishing nothing in the process, and continue supporting the culprit who takes bread from their table and giving it to foreigners as claimed, enriching the foreigner while the native born staves.
The person responsible for the truck owners plight is none other than Roosevelt, and the little worm, (another of me cousin from Wesley Fidel Grant, that little sucker!) Problem is these same complainers are shallow, by the time election comes around and Roosevelt hire them to transport people from village to village to vote, they forget the evils of Roosevelt, and they themselves goes into the voting boot and return their master Roosevelt back in power only to be kicked in their behind by him!

Point,that was never a truckers protest,that was a UWP protest.The spokes person for that so called truckers protest was Mr.UNTIDY from Salisbury.Every UWP supporters who missed work that day should be fired.The truckers who listened to UWP and blocked the road should not be employed.

I am perplexed when I see people, people with supposedly a certain degree of intellect and who should know better endorse and encourage illegality. It is one thing to protest, of course the truckers have every right to do so but they do not have the right to block the road and inconvenience road users. I conclude by saying that those persons who are party to this behavior are simply being selfish and are using those protesters for their own selfish goals. Let us not lose focus on what’s happening here, it is a protest action therefore let’s approach it the right way.
The response by the police was so uncalled for. I am waiting to see how many people will go and look at police parade and clap for them on 3rd November. I am calling for people to boycott independence celebration especially the parade. Dominicans are definitely not independent.

All they are doing is making life even harder for ordinary Dominicans. It’s the wrong way to protest. The only people cheering them on are people who live overseas. There will be people not eating tonight, maybe also tomorrow. The elderly and the sick cannot get to the hospital. Children cannot get to school. Students cannot get to college. Emergency services staff cannot get to work. By all means park along the roadside in protest, even take up a whole lane if you must, but don’t block it.You’re not going to get any symathy or support doing that.
DNO,, do the truckers have a valid reason for their protest action? Sure they do. Some years ago Roosevelt advised them to purchase bigger trucks as those they had were too small for the future earth moving jobs at hand and for the many colossal developments.
The Chinese are doing well while indigenous Dominicans are catching hell in their own homeland. Could this happen in China where Dominicans are given preferential treatment over their own?
The truckers.like most resident Dominicans are not asking for any handouts. All they seek for are opportunities to work to earn. Is that not a honourable thing to desire?
Instead of quiet negotiations and an opportunity to feed themselves nd their families, they were given physical blows and poisonous teargas.

The o ly thing is Bath estate should be blocked, Lubiere intersección should be blocked, Layou bridge should be blocked, all sides to possie should be blocked, Marigot bridge from the airport should be blocked, Londonderry bridge and all of wesley should be blocked, Pond casas should be blocked and everywhere should be blocked so that nothing coming in or going out. Bunch of selfish people. They have a grievance so everyone must suffer. Blocking children from going to school, blocking access to the main hospital and access to the main airport to a large portion of the population. This clearly is violent protest as it denies others of certain basic human rights and critical services by blocking roads to essential institutions.
