UWP candidate offers love, integrity and honesty to Cottage constituents

Marcus Romain

United Workers Party candidate for the Cottage constituency, Marcus Romain has told the people of that constituency that as an elected member of parliament he will give them representation that is based on love.

“And that is the kind of representation that the people of this constituency need and that is what they will get when I become the next representative for the Cottage constituency, brothers and sisters,”  Romain told the crowd that had come to witness his declaration as the UWP candidate for Cottage. “That is the kind of representation that I am here to give, the representation where you love people, where you treat people with the utmost respect.”

In what was an obvious reference to the DLP incumbent in that constituency, Romain declared, ” I don’t want to be called no pitbull. I don’t want to be called no rottweiler. I want to be called a loving gentleman. A man that is there for my people; a man that will not insult people. A man that has done it in the past; a man that has welcomed people even before I was in politics. That is why I have this wonderful support.”

He attributed what he described as “wonderful support” from “lovely and beautiful people cheering me on” to his loving and caring nature,

“Because before politics, that was Marcus for your money. The Marcus that will pass and pick everybody up on the road side because of love in my heart,” he noted,” I didn’t do it with the intent of becoming a politician; I never knew I was going to become a politician, brothers and sisters..but the love that I have for the people of my area and the people of Dominica, it’s natural and that is the kind of representation that people need; that people want and that people ought to get from the people that represent you”

He had some additional for his audience and Dominica electors.

“You have to demand respect; you have to demand love and you have to demand – do not forget that – you have to demand honesty. Honesty and integrity, brothers and sisters is what will take your country forward,” Romain told his audience. “No country that is corrupt will never prosper…. for a country to prosper, the wealth has to be shared equally among its citizens and that is what we are not getting in this country.”

The event at which Romain was officially declared was held in Lagoon on Thursday night.

Romain was for many years an employee of the now departed Ross University. He holds a Masters Degree in construction management.

How can you speak about utmost respect when Trevor Johnson is on your party’s political social media page posting the most ugly defiling disrespectful things about women??? Why don’t you or your leader stop him? You are aligning yourself to some hateful evil people. Start the change in how your party treats women and then I can take you seriously

Austrie, Douglas and Blackmoore are gonna loose their seats for sure. They have disappointed the constituents once to often. Skerrit knows that but he can’t afford to fire them because they know to much and therefore he has to stick with them. This is one secret society that works for themselves at the expense of Ma Dominique. One day you all find out and you’ll ask yourself, how could we all be so stupid and blind for so long.

“He holds a Masters Degree in construction management.”

Well qualified for Ministry of Communications and Works,,,

Just like that post the late Mr. Carbon from that constituency held and did a great job managing,,,

Brother one advice to consider in your campaign, is to address the fact that too many public works Projects are being contracted out to friends and family of the elected officials,,,

You must be Austrie’s lap dog. Austrie is nothing but a foul mouthed bully who could not organise a drink up in a rum shop, let alone being a government minister. One has to ask oneself sometimes, where does Skerrit get them from. Doesn’t say much for him either, does it?

I do not know which part of the constituency Dianne resides; I don’t know how much it takes to satisfy him/her. However, for one who is from the constituency I must say that despite being the longest serving member of parliament, the only original laborite, a member of parliament who has served in several ministries, the present parl. rep has been the most unproductive parliamentarian next to Ian Douglas in the parliament. I beg the parliamentary representative and his supporters to point out one economic development he has brought to this constituency. Speaking from experience the people of the cottage constituency have regressed under the present representation. Please do not refer to the current hotels as a legacy of development for the current parliamentarian, one would beg the question what happened in the previous 20 years?. Ross University provided employment for a significant number of persons in the cottage constituency; has the parl. rep openly addressed the departure of…

So of all the plans and bright vision Romain shared last night this is what DNO highlighting? What about how he is going to improve the community and the other important issues he spoke on? I was there, those who were not will want to know. This is so unfair! Next thing you will see those majee come here and say he has no plans all he offering is love stupes.

    • May 4, 2019

      @Frank N Stein

Maybe DNO already knows that they speak or promise those things but they never come to fruition; they are sounding like a broken record

I believe that a person should be productive long before he enters politics so that people can see his worth, as a leader, in other to choose him.

Those promises are too obscure to believe, far more to come to fruition–like promising to create 1200 jobs, when you do not have not even a small business, employing a few people–how would 1200 jobs come to fruition?

I listened to the gentleman last night, and he sounded brighter than the current Parl rep, who is palpably Dominica’s most idiotic parl rep, even professing to be a dog (rottweiler). As he outlined the needs of the constituency, one has to ask where has the rottweiler been over the past 20years since DLP has been in government!
I wish him (Mr Marcus Romaine) well, and hope that the wind of change which is blowing throughout Dominica blows in this area as well. Good declaration!!!
    Wonderful atmosphere!!!

% get a life, both you and your pick sounds redundant. The man spent approximately 30 minutes taking down the DLP, without laying his plans for the seat he wants to occupy. Can you give us something to think about? No substance no rhythm, poor choices

A man who earns an macadamia degree from a college or university, and a man who’s only job prior to politics was a watchman job at Ross University!

Which of the two are more qualified to serve in Government?

A man who’s degree can earn him millions of dollars in his profession, and one who ………………………..; I wonder if I had a choice from the good the bad and the ugly which of the two would I chose.

Well, I know but I doh talking eh!

(I doh going and tell ulyou ) how I would chose the good, the man who honestly earned his academic degree, rather than one whose ambition prior to politics was to become a professional watchman!

No intelligence is utilized in recognizing  someone stealing (thifing) what does not belong to them!

It takes intelligence and ambition to earn a masters degree in anything!

I once heard one in parliament said “they say Dominica is last “kakarrat.”

      Is Austrie last Kakarrat?
