Unstable conditions will be affecting the area during the next 24 to 48 hours. As tropical storm Philippe inches closer to the region an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity can be expected. Cloudy conditions with showers that can be moderate to heavy at times along with increased thunderstorm activity can be expected tomorrow. People in are in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be on the alert.
Meanwhile, tropical Storm Philippe continues to be very difficult to predict. Rainfall accumulations between 1 to 2 icnhes as a result of Phillipe is possible in some areas. A flood watch or warning may be issued within the next 24 to 48hours if necessary. However, current model guidance indicates tropical storm forces winds associated with Phillipe, who is located east of the Leeward Islands pose no direct threat to Dominica. The met office will continue to monitor the progress of this tropical storms.
Moderate sea conditions are expected over the next 24 to 48 hours with waves peaking near 8ft on the eastern and northern coast. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to be on alert.
