A broad area of low pressure over the Eastern Tropical Atlantic is being monitored by the National Hurricane Centre and the Dominica Meteorological Service. This area of low pressure has a high chance of development, and a tropical depression or a tropical storm could form during the weekend into early next week. This weather system is projected to move westward towards the Lesser Antilles during the coming week and could begin affecting the island chain from midweek (particular from Wednesday 18th into Friday 20th October 2023).
The Office of Disaster Management is advising the public to ensure that their preparedness plans are in place and ready to be activated for their protection, should this become necessary. During the upcoming week of festive activities, the public should ensure that daily weather check is a part of this activities and to plan accordingly.
Residents should keep updated on the weather situation and any caution information provided by the Office of Disaster Management and the Dominica Meteorological Service.

Meanwhile according to the Met Office, a high pressure system will continue to be dominant across the area during the period, however, a light wind regime coupled with daytime heating could generate a few localised showers over the area.
Slight seas are expected with waves peaking near 3ft over the weekend.
Tropical Storm Sean continues northwestward over the Central Tropical Atlantic and poses no direct threat to the islands. The met office will continue to monitor these systems and provide the necessary update.
