The Dominica Meteorological Service is warning persons living in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks to be vigilant and to exercise caution as a trough system affects the island.
The trough system will continue to produce cloudiness, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the northern portion of the island chain during the next 24 to 48 hours, the Met Office said.
It also said that a greater degree of cloudiness, more frequent rainfall, and higher rainfall amounts are normally experienced across the east coast and interior of Dominica.
Slight to moderate seas are expected during the next 24 to 48 hours with waves peaking near 5.0 feet.
