As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, the Dominica National Council of Women (DNCW) and the Caribbean Women’s Association (CARIWA) proudly echo the global theme: “Count her In: Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment”. For over three decades, DNCW & CARIWA [have continued] to advocate for gender equality and the rights of women and girls in Dominica.
In the agricultural landscapes of developing nations, recognizing the intersectionality of gender, climate justice, and environmental justice is paramount. Women, constituting nearly half of the labor force, stand as pivotal actors at this
crossroads.
When provided equal access to resources, such as in the agricultural sector where they enhance yields by 20 to 30 percent (UN Women, 2022), we not only invest in women but also sow the seeds of climate and environmental justice. By counting her in, we interweave the fabric of empowerment, nurturing a future where basic human rights and freedom are not just integral but foundational to sustainable progress, making the 17 goals truly achievable.
We want to encourage the public to Invest in our women and girls to accelerate progress and propel businesses in our country. Let us reaffirm our collective commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable society, where the economic empowerment of women and girls is not just a goal, but a reality.
Together, let us “Count her In” and accelerate progress towards a future where every woman and girl can reach her full potential. May this International Women’s Day spark something different!
Since DNO daycalay Em Ba La,the blue baboon have gone MAD.
By all indications the Government of Dominica is a Rogue Government – we do not have a government in office.
At various times in history the United States has been supportive of Rogue governments and today we have this in our government today and see Haiti – do you all care about women the answer is NO.
By all accounts today we stand for nothing – talking women in business and Huckstering has issues empty boat going up to Guadeloupe.
Women in Business is what we are talking about empowering but we have to begin somewhere which is first of foremost teaching our women to respect themselves and not let men disrespect them and not accept disrespect as good practice for advancement.
When we have our women being disrespected on college campuses when we send them to study by our own MEN and the result is no one reports this instead our administration continues and even elevates this individual as President of our college over our young women and the Dominica Council of Women says nothing to this effect also when our politicians are out there bringing or giving their past then underage girls friends and flings and illicit relationships involvement giving these people positions today. Dominica Council on Women your are silent.
