Woodford Hill man in police custody for murder of his brother; road fatality in Laudat under investigation

A Woodford Hill man is now in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation into the death of his brother.

It is alleged that Aaron Lewis beat his brother Mark Lewis multiple times with an iron bar at Woodford Hill earlier this month. Mark was then transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where he was admitted until his death on June 27, 2023.

The police initially preferred charges of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) against Aaron. At his court appearance after the charge was read to the accused, he was granted bail and released. However, succeeding the death of his brother, Aaron has since been rearrested and is now in police custody being investigated for murder.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the road fatality of a Laudat man. On the evening of June 25, 2023, Hearne Scotland was riding his motorbike en route to Laudat when he collided with a flat rack that was parked along the side of the road.

He was transported to the DFH where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. Dominica News Online (DNO) will continue to follow these incidents and provide an update once it is available.
