Nurse Rosie Felix to bring “Tender Loving Care” to those who need it

Felix is a qualified Registered Nurse and Midwife

President of the Dominica Nurses Association (DNA) nurse Rosie Felix will on November 11th introduce services to the public dubbed Tender Loving Care (TLC) Health Services which she says will be beneficial to all.

Speaking to Dominica News Online (DNO) on Wednesday, Felix who also has 31 years of experience as a nurse and midwife said the health services that will be provided are preconception care, prenatal education, postnatal care, breastfeeding support, health counselling for adults as well as adolescents, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring, administration of prescribed injections, pre HIV counselling among others.

“It’s a dream I have been pursuing for a long time and I was thinking of a catchy name, that in keeping with the experience people want,” she said. “I imagined what sought of experience people want and base on my own practice as a nurse for all these years, I know people enjoy an experience that is a compassionate experience, a tender touch from a nurse.”

Felix continued, “It’s about Tender Loving Care we are supposed to give people, respectful care.”

According to her, services will be provided for both men and women.

She went on to say that women and girls empowerment will also be provided.

“That has to do in areas where you have domestic violence, child abuse, or women on the job, any job…,” Felix explained. “Some women don’t know how to stand up to somebody who wants to abuse them and so just coming and talking with the nurse can give them that support and advice on what to do.”

She indicated that some services like a pap smear and antenatal care will be added later.

The health services will be provided at the Harlsborough Center in Roseau three (3) days a week.

Persons are advised to call 4498565 or 2751665 to make appointments.

Thanks for Nurse for your service to country and humanity. For seeing the short comings and lope holes that have been created by the incompetence of these lazy people in power who have crippled our health system.
You are filling in one of the most important gaps in Dominica today.
    God Bless!

What an altruistic person! If only our politicians, especially the ones who presently hold the reins of power, would think likewise, Dominica would a much greater place of abode for all citizens and residents.. Nurse Felix, you are a true patriot. Dominica needs people with your bouyant spirit, kind heart and patriotic attitude to run things in the country. We adore your well needed efforts to bring relief to the much marginalized living poor and many others. Commendations to you and your volunteers!!!

Great initiative, should also seek the support of the General practitioners with input from specialist monthly. Maybe consideration could be given to a Name like Dominica’s Tender Loving care Initiative (DTLCI). Surely this will be a caribbean first!!!

Great initiative indeed! Also, will you please include the elderly who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer. They also need support from the nurses with their medication because of their memory loss or forgetfulness. God bless you.

While the programs seems to be mostly geared towards women, please advise persons to leave an abusive relationship, especially when it becomes physical; it could be the man as the abuser, or the woman as the abuser. Often times, men who are abused don’t want to admit that they are getting abused. However, in most cases, it is the woman is who is on the receiving end of the abuse. All the best with this adventure.
