I am a bit surprised at the anti-African tone of some of these comments. Our Creole (Kweyole) culture is made up of African, Kalinago, European (mainly French) influences. It is important to have the African content at WCMF, and at Jazz and Creole at Cabrits. This is to remind us of our cultural roots and its influence on our music and way of life, much as some choose to deny it. Our Bele dance and its ‘lavway’ for instance is heavily African. Respect Mother Africa!

I don’t have a problem with a Nigerian performing at the fest, I just don’t understand why Creole is in the name when it doesn’t really have much to do with the fest. There’s been African etc artists performing before but they don’t have anything to do with creole culture

Why call it a CREOLE fest if you’re just gonna end up letting Nigerians perform? That kinda defeats the whole purpose of the fest, which is supposed to be a celebration of OUR culture

Gully.. Please be informed that WE in DOMINICA are decendants of AFRICANS!
Every single part of everything we do is a direct result of our AFRICANISIM.
Please do your research before making such a Ludacris comment!
