The Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) has announced part one of its line-up for the 23rd edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).
The announcement was made during a launch party held at the Anchorage Hotel in Castle Comfort on Friday night.
The festival is scheduled to take place from October 27 to 29, 2023 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt.
In the Cadence Lypso segment performances will come from the number one Compa Band in Dominica, the Extasy Band, Cadence Legend Gordon Henderson, Princess of Song Michele Henderson, and Kings of Cadence from South City Grandbay Midnight Groovers.
In the Zouk All Stars segment NJIE from Guadeloupe will grace the stage at this year’s festival. Performance will also come from Medhy Custos, Joelle Ursull, and Jean Luc Guanel.
In the Compa segment, Haitian Compa band Tabou Combo will form part of the line-up followed by VAYB.
Forming part of the Soca segment, no stranger to the WCMF stage will be Trinidad and Tobago Soca artiste Patrice Roberts. Also to perform is Jamaican artiste Andrae Hugh Sutherland, known professionally as Popcaan, King of Soca from Trinidad and Tobago Machel Montano, and Jamaican Reggae singer Beres Hammond.
In the AfroBeat segment, One of today’s most exciting African artists and superstars, Joeboy.
And finally the Bouyon segment, performances will come from Bouyon Ambassador from Dominica Asa Bantan and well-known Dominican Bouyon band Triple K International.
This is what the First Lady has her expertise in – sewo. Her contribution in the mad house ( parliament) was quite comical.
I am paraphrasing here. Her argument was that Dominica’s eco on omg is very strong. She based her argument on the ‘sellout’ of VIP tickets at entertainment functions organised in Dominica. If Roosevelt is the StarBoy of stupidity, she is definitely the StarGirl of idiocy.
With comical characters like her, as a member of parliament, it’s no surprise that Dominica is going to ruins.
This was the last and most devastating blow to the people of Dominica both here and abroad. For another year if the organisers can’t afford the festival and coming up with these just to fill in the blacks kind of thing they need to park up and run. That’s very embarrassing after all these years the organisers just can’t seem to get it right ESPECIALLY after the 2022 world creole music very poor festival. Big shame.

I would like to see at least one of days become a day-night event; where it is more a festival atmosphere and not just a concert. Which could feature cuisine, art and small craft budding entrepreneurs(like agro-processing and fashion).
I know you will add one more Bouyon band, so, no pressure.
