Opposition Leader Jesma Paul-Victor said the parliamentary opposition is in support of the construction of the long-awaited international airport.
She made the statement while speaking to State-Owned Radio DBS this week.
“So we do not want to mix politics into matters of the country,” she said. “We are in support of the international airport that has been long-in- coming and right now, we are seeing that works are being done.”
According to her, both the opposition and government must come together to work for the good of the country.
“We believe we are one people, we are one Dominica and even if we are the opposition, we don’t need to oppose… everything,” Paul-Victor stated. “We need to come together because there are committees [where] the opposition and people in the government are in the same committees.”
However, she said she believes that more information could be given on certain matters, “so we just need some transparency…We believe that much more can be said and we expect more information from the government, which we are not getting.”
A one-billion-dollar contract between the Government of Dominica and Montreal Management Consultant Establishment (MMCE) has been signed, signaling the official commencement of the construction of the highly anticipated international airport.
The contract signing which took place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on June 9, 2021, has been described as as “a long-awaited dream held in the hearts of citizens for over 50 years.”
At the time, the prime minister expressed gratitude to the people of Wesley, Woodford Hill, and Palm Tree who facilitated the construction of the airport in their communities and vowed to the citizens of Dominica, at home and abroad, that nothing and no one will stop his government from building the international airport.

The one who is has made it his life’s mission to denigrate the opposition parties and see those in opposition as enemies. He brought a woman to Dominica to tell the opposition “go suck salt” because Skerritt is the Prime Minister. Skerritt told his Labor supporters in St Joseph, go up in the faces of the opposition no matter where they are and shout “traitors ” to their faces. He has his goons in the police forces torment all opposition assemblies even when they are being peaceful. The “I’m-the-people” leader wants no opposition and he said so himself. He turns every event which isn’t going well as a national tragedy for which he has to feed red meat to the base. I wish you well trying to achieve a paradigm shift with this guy. Good luck.

Her position as the parliament opposition leader has given Roosevelt and his adherents in parliament carte blanche privilege to operate with impunity.

Had the UWP contested the general elections it would have been different.
I beg to defer with you. An election conducted under such questionable and egregious circumstances as the last, made no sense for any opposition party to contest. A bad and corrupt election like the last national election held in Dominica is tantamount to NO ELECTION.
