PM, opposition senator condemn public criticism of opposition leader as ‘vicious attacks’

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has condemned the “vicious attacks” against Opposition Leader Jesma Paul-Victor by callers on a local radio station after her decision to revoke Senator Sean Douglas’s appointment as an opposition member of parliament.

He was addressing Parliament on Friday.

“I really want to condemn the vicious attack that I heard on Q-95 [Radio] against the Leader of the Opposition…,” he said. “And I am calling on every member to condemn this vicious attack by the United Workers Party on the Leader of the Opposition.”

He continued, “We must have more civility in this country, that if you don’t agree with somebody, doesn’t mean you have to scandalize the person, but we must be consistent.”

The Prime Minister said the problem in Dominica is that people tend to ‘play politics’ with these things.

“So, we go around Roseau ringing bells, calling for the AG [Attorney General] to resign and the same people who are calling on the Attorney General to resign are the same people involved and cheerleading the vicious attack on the Leader of the Opposition,” he remarked. “And Dominicans must be aware of this and Leader of the Opposition you have to be aware of this.”

Skerrit added, “Look for her constituency. And I am saying for the member of Marigot, because rest assured, they will eat you both, like snakes who eat up their offspring. They will use you…the moment they believe they cannot use you they will mash you up.”

He went on to condemn all of the attacks on women in Dominica.

“It is wrong, it is distasteful,” he stressed.

Opposition senator Delbert Paris addressing Parliament

Meanwhile, Opposition Senator Delbert Paris also condemned the attacks on his leader.

“I very seldom agree with the leader of the government, but on this one I would like to agree with him and condemn the vicious attacks that have been leveled on the leader of the opposition,” he said. “The vicious attacks on the leader of the opposition, wherever they came from, is unacceptable, it’s unnecessary.”

Paris went on to state that the leader suffered those attacks for exercising her duties and rights.

“She was attacked by several people and groups of people without even having all the details, without having information.”

He continued, “It is something that we do in Dominica that is not right and it has to stop.”

Paris further condemned the unacceptable behaviour of the country’s Attorney General Levi Peter and the Minister of Education for the unacceptable things that they said, “…On the same opposition leader and her candidate for president”.

“We don’t have such a short memory; we remember,” he stated.

The opposition senator from Marigot added, “And if we are talking about unity in a Creole country and we are talking about not trivializing issues and not politicizing all issues, when it comes to the issue of protecting our women and children, I think that is a place we can unite. I think that is a place where we can all condemn violence, abuse, and verbal attacks on our women.”

The fact that the CM sees fit to defend the so called ‘Leader of the Opposition’ should make it clear to everybody who she is actually serving. I have said it before and I will keep repeating it. Democracy is taking its last breath in DA and all of you couldn’t care less!

clearly she is bought. Hence why she cannot tell us why Sean is dismissed. Now he is taking up for her? since when? She is clearly bought. So is the other one from Marigot.

Agreed, consummate politician, never one to miss an opportunity to make themselves look good and make others look bad. Be wary of all these selfish advantage seekers…in the end it is we that tolerate or even celebrate them.

As far as I can see it is clear that Jasma Paul, Delbert Paris and Roosevelt Skerrit are singing from the same hymnal, sleeping on the same bed and eating from the same plate. In short they are all one just as the Devi, Satan and Lucifer are one and agree as one.
Right or wrong we just cannot afford to have an opposition that’s one with Skerrit. So my advice is to fire Jasma Paul Victor and Mr Parris so we could have a fresh by election. I have not heard from the Marigot MP but since he is the son of former labor candidate I can’t trust him either and therefore we should have by election in both Marigot and Salisbury, when Skerrit refused Mr James and Spags for walking out of parliament so there could be new by elections. So we should now be calling for Jesma Paul and Parris to join Levi Peters to go.

How could the opposition be in bed with Skerrit? Why didn’t the opposition leader discuss what happened to Shaun with Hon Lennox Linton so Linton could advise her. What the hell happened to Shaun seems to be only known by Alibaba, his forty thieves, the opposition leader, senator Paris and maybe the parlrep of Marigot.
Since the decision to fire Shaun seems to have been between the opposition leader, senator Paris, Skerrit and his clappers ministers and the president of Skerrit, we should fire Jesma Paul and all of them so we could have our UWP opposition back in the house . We can’t allow Skerrit to have things his way and the already very weak independent opposition supporting him

Not only should condemn the leader of opposition for sacking Mr Douglas but we should call on our supporters in BAWI to demand the resignation of Ms Paul and also go to Marigot and do the same so there could be by elections in those two constituencies to reinstate our two UWP candidates as parlrep and then the opposition. In so doing instead of independent senators agreeing with the most evil one against Shaun and the opposition, we could have new senators that stand for the best interests of the party.
I don’t know what happened between Mr Douglas and the opposition leader, but since she can’t tell us what Shaun did and seems to tell the most Evil one and the most Evil one is supporting her, as well as Mr Paris, we should ensure that both independent candidates are out so those senators could be out also. We cannot afford what happened in Castle Bruce in 2000 with Lauren Bannis, Roseau north with Timothy and central with Judas to happen again. Up to today they are in Skerrit’s bag

More women have benefitted under the Skerrit led administration than under any other administration.More women in parliament.more women in the fire service, more women in the police force.More women heading departments.First woman President.Skerrit is a man for women
LENNOX LINTON”Our young people are prostituting P-R-O-S-T-I-T-U-T-I-N-G themselves for assistance from the public purse”Young women must have sex with ministers of government in order to get a job, according to ugly Lenny.Every young woman in Dominica who hold a government job had sex with a minister of government. And all UWP supporters agree.UWP is leading the way in disrespecting Dominican women.

What I’m more interested in hearing from this clown, the “I’m-the-people” guy, is an update on the electoral reform work that’s supposed to be ongoing. I personally would prefer to hear from the puppet, Duncan Stowe rather from the puppeteer Skerritt. He promised the reform will happen by year’s end and we’re almost in the middle of November. Do they plan on springing a surprise reform document and rush it to parliament without enough time for the public to digest what’s going to be their final decisions?. Instead we have to hear insignificant cow pats on a discussion which happened on a private radio show. Man, keep it real and stay in your lane, Skerritt. You ought to lead by example.

After cultivating an estate of viscously attacking his opponents, Starboy has found religion.
Malzaire told him say five Our Fathers and three Hail Marys then repent and sin no more.

“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye” (Matthew 7:4-5)

The “I’m-the-people” guy continues to show poor leadership. Why does he have to get in the sewer, the gutter or down this rabbit hole. He doesn’t know how to rise above the noise and be a dignified leader. He sat in parliament when the AG Levi Peter sank the August body to the lowest of lows by calling the nominee of the opposition a “drumstick ” in the presence of our newly minted president. Skerritt went on to defend this reprehensible speech and the AG, despite the fact that Ms Sandford is qualified and a Kalinago. He didn’t criticize Levi. Now he enters the fray when citizens exercise their freedom of speech on a radio station. This demonstrates Skerrit’s lack of respect for Parliament since he endorsed the rum-shop speech by the AG in parliament but now is upset about what’s said on a radio show. No wonder he refused to debate Lenox Linton. Empty barrels make the most noise.

Skerrit will only defend and protect something or someone that he feels serves his best interest!
Skerrit has placed it in de record in parliament that our country doesn’t need an opposition…….he has total disrespect for de office of leader of de opposition.
This current opposition leader is weak and Skerrit making her look weaker. She appears to be manipulated by Skerrit himself …..he defending her against vicious attacks……I never hear her address CBI and de government!!!!
    Some people just not worthy!!!

Let me spell it out for you, you have all these failings. As long as we are weighed down by people with such destructive personalities then the countries self-inflicted problems will remain no matter who is in charge.

The Starboy of Extreme Stupidity comments about the ‘attacks’ on Jesus Paul-Victor are hypocritical, insincere, politically strategic and expedient. He has steadfastly refused to condemn his AG for his unprovoked, nasty, loathsome remarks about Mrs Anette Stanford.

I repeat ad nauseam. Everything the congenital LIAR (Roosevelt) does or says is conscientiously calculated for political advantageousness. His remarks are geared to ingratiate himself with Mrs Jesma Paul-Victor. He always has ulterior motives for every statement he makes or every action he takes.

Roosevelt is a sly fox. A fox is a wolf who sends flowers to his targeted victims.

I must have missed it but no details were shared. Not saying that it was right to attack the opposition leader but it is her responsible to adequately communicate her decision to the public which was not done.

Why should you be concerned about that Roosevelt, unless you have already secured her support, and any day now she will declare that she is now in your camp as a minister of nothing!

You instructed your supporters to poor hot water on members of the UWP if and when they go to their door to educate them on voting, and not to vote for you; at least any insults took place from far; that is not a crime; nevertheless, to influence your supporters to burn people with hot water, makes you an accessory to the perpetration of a crime.

    You are a hypocrite!
