Popular Bouyon artiste Asa Bantan appointed goodwill ambassador for Dominica

Popular Bouyon artiste Asa Bantan has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for Dominica.

A Goodwill Ambassador is a prominent individual in his/her community or profession who serves as an “Honorary Diplomat” between entities, like organizations, institutions, towns, cities, or nations.

In fact, a Goodwill Ambassador generally delivers goodwill by promoting ideals from one entity to another, or to a population.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux said from a “government’s point of view we have been very impressed with Asa’s representation over the years,”

Adding, “I know that he will do well in his official capacity as a Goodwill Ambassador.”

According to Dr Darroux, Asa Bantan is seen as being undeniably patriotic, “even in his presentation, his dressing, he never fails to mention his home community or hometown of Dominica.”

Asa, who is a favourite to many, hails from Grand Bay.

He has said that as a young man, he was influenced by artistes such as Vybez Kartel, Twins of Twins and Spragga Benz.

He is known for hits like “Move”, ‘Macaroni’, ‘Prime Minister’, ‘Make a Mess’, ‘Tip of the Top’ and much more.

Asa also pens his music and they are usually based on social issues.

He became State-owned Radio, DBS Brand Ambassador in January 2019.

He is also the Brand Ambassador for Trois Piton Water.

Nothing personal with this guy. There is a time and place for everything under the sun. We send so many young people to study some of whom accomplishments are a dream to many. There has to be a criteria for that label and based on his art and work i would not give him that position. Yes he may have a following but that is not the standard we should set for our youths. I am sorry. His influence is in his song and his roll model is vybz cartel. See our society is built on mediocrity in every aspect. Let him be a Dominica embassador for bouyon music. There is nothing that gives me inspiration in his songs. Wish him well.

Well it just tells us how much we love to elevate coshoni in Dominica. I don’t know the man personally, so I am not saying he is a coshoni. But the loud noisy …. he performs and promotes should not be the reason for him to be made ambassador. We can do better. Stupes. Besides he always looks so disheveled!!!

His popularity is in his art. What has he done through his art to motivate young people or anyone. What is your standards in life? Would you tell your kids to model themselves after him or vybz kartel. Dominicans must take criticism as a means to improve and not as always a reason to resist or rebel. Sour sour sing crap he win road march. This guy may be cool person but the songs he sings are nothing to inspire anyone. We have a leader in the country begging for 29 years and we hold high. Bottom line is in Dominica he may be great but the rest of the world would just laugh. Again we love mediocrity. See Dominica cannot get anywhere

From the top down, we now embrace mediocrity. I am Dominican but this is not my culture.

i Don’t think that is why he was label as brand ambassador, and as you said you don’t know him personally. Asa has helped alot of people who are in need of financing for medical or education. He was labeled “Goodwill”ambassador because of his leadership in encouraging others to donate to go fund me pages for person in need of assistance through social media platforms not because of the songs he sings.

Its a shame you refer to yourself as ” Da to De Bone” and you’re speaking bad on someone who has worked hard for himself and his country with his so called “Loud noisy” that he performs, but through him some people now know that dominica exist thats why they come for our carnival/World Creole Music festival to experience this loud noisy atmosphere and his disheveled self perform. We need to let people be an appreciate one another more. We willed be have our time to be judged.
