Reports reaching Dominica News Online (DNO) are that one male individual from the community of Grand Bay has succumbed to injuries as a result of a road traffic accident.
According to the information that we have at this time, the man was riding a motorcycle in the Pichelin area when he collided with a truck.
The reports indicate that the critically-injured man was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital where he died upon arrival.

There is nothing we can do about the dead but I am sorry for family, relatives and perhaps dependants eft behind and I am asking again for the umpteenth time, was the rider wearing a helmet, protective gear, was he insured, was the motor in a sound mechanical condition. Was the rider fit or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I know a lot of us find such questions offensive but we never hear anything from the police about such matters and I’m afraid that if they do not take action to enforce compliance we wil continue to see bad motor cycles accidents like this. The police can be proactive by routinely checking motorcyclists with random stops. Vexing to young riders I know, but necessary.
Once you reach in tht hospital does know you finish. It not good enough for them but it good for us..

I think we need to upgrade this ambulance service in providing on site care before they arrive at the hospital.. this ride we giving injured patients just not in it.. we need to up out game, improve on our ambulance service.. train the fire man in providing such service or have nurses station at the fire station for cases like this.. we have to think of something.. we just giving ppl ride on ambulance by time they reach roseau hospital they dead..

Ppl need to be more careful on the road period!! I don’t see why on a straight road like this somebody still getting into an accident especially u can see both sides of the road. My condolences goes out to the young man’s family and friends🕊🙏🏾

When Princess Margaret pays for the hospital then it will be named after her.
I don’t like the new name either. I think it should’ve been more aptly named. And I get it they(the Chinese) are paying for it. But imposing that name on us is not cool. We already have a bridge with that name. If naming it after a Dominican might stir up too much controversy, you know how we Dominicans are, then something like ‘Roseau General Hospital’ should suffice.
But sad about that young man losing his life.
Ah…if memory serves me right, we are the ones paying for he hospital and not the Chinese. It is a loan not a grant.

Then man even put that in writing at the front of the hospital. I will forever call it PRincess Margaret Hospital. It seems like any project these Chinese work on they have to call it the Dominica – China friendship baggai. PMH. We as people have no clue what is going on. We allow the administration to really rule over us. They do whatever they want wiout asking anyone anything. When they are paid to represent us. the other day Skerrit put two big speed bumps on both side of his farm in Morne Daniel on public side roads. the residents who have lived in the area for years cannot say anything about it. They change the names of public facilities whenever they want without asking the people they represent. Dominicans have basically handed over Dominica and its resources to these people. And there is nothing DOminicans can say about it. you are either with them or against them. Its like you pay a man to bully you. Change the name of the country to Dominica-China friendship island.
