Stephan Pascal notches up first half-century for West Indies Under 19 team in South Africa (updated)

Dominica’s very own, right-handed batsman, Stephan Pascal, achieved a significant milestone by securing his maiden half-century for the West Indies during the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa on January 26, 2024. Pascal scored 58.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) had earlier announced the Rising Stars Men’s Under 19s team on Monday, December 18, 2023, for the 15th edition of the tournament. Stephan Pascal, the young Dominican cricketer, was appointed as the captain of the West Indies squad for this tournament, scheduled to run from January 19 to February 11, 2024.

This achievement by the athlete, along with his fellow team members, including Nathan Edward of Dominican parentage, contributed to the West Indies’ triumph over England in the series.

The announcement of Pascal’s achievement comes just 24 hours after another Dominican cricketer, Kavem Hodge, showcased a gripping performance during Day 1 of the pink-ball Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. Hodge notched up his maiden half-century in Test Cricket, orchestrating a resilient 149-run partnership with Joshua Da Silva (79) for the sixth wicket. Their tenacious batting led the West Indies to a respectable 266/8 by stumps, following a challenging start for the top order.

    Amid all the cheering and screaming for west indies and our players for making history we have a government that turn down a world cup T20 mens tournament that was carded for dominica, where the world would have seen the best of the best in Dominica where the country would have been bussing everybody would have made money, the Bars, hotels, taxi drivers, bus drivers , the mom and pap stores, the BBQ man, the juice man, the jelly man and skerrit and his bandits turn down such a great opportunity what a shame .
    The thing is those guys will go on tv and radio and say how much they love the game ,bunch of killers and hypocrites of the game we love .

    Dominican cricketers are doing their best to bring joy, pride, respect and positive recognition to their embattled country. Kudos to them! They are pushing far above their weight.

    It’s awfully disconcerting that we cannot say the same about this 20 year old current Roosevelt’s administration.

      @Ibo
      It’s destroying playing fields across the country.. They are often used as dump sites. Remember Skerrit played ZERO sports. He does not care.

    Very well done son of the soil. Congratulations to you bro and continue to make us proud. Please don’t let cabalist politicians use you now that you are making the headlines because the cabal has done nothing to get you to where you are today. You have a strong family behind especially your old man. Again please, do not allow the SOS to take pics of you sitting on his office couch for propaganda purposes. Plus it is ALLEGED that the said couch is contaminated with bodily fluids 8). Keep on playing bro…

    Against which team?
    Good to read about that, because like the senior team, the Under-19 top order has been failing in the tournanent. . It’s just the #6 batter, J Andrew, (the wicket keeper) that has been scoring..
    Hope Pascal’s form continue. Consistency is the key.
