Team Unity Dominica (TUD) congratulates Sylvanie Burton for her nomination as candidate for President of the Commonwealth of Dominica by the Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit.
If this nomination is supported by the Hon. Leader of the Opposition, Jesma Paul and the parliamentary opposition, Ms. Burton’s election as Head of State will be swift and unanimous, and we stand ready to work with the presidential nominee in the capacity of President.
As she prepares for a possible transition to the Presidency, TUD wishes to place on record, our profound gratitude to Ms. Burton for her service to the Dominican Kalinago Tribe, and the country at large, including her substantive post as Permanent Secretary.
Our pledge is to build bonds of unity for meaningful progress.
TUD. Who is TUD again? Dominica will not go anywhere if these puppets keep supporting Skerrit and his one party state. They just fall in line just as that retarded TUD. Dominica is doomed to fail with more puppets in Position. Heaven help us
May I remind Dominicans of this incontrovertible fact before many get carried away by this nomination by asking this question: Has Roosevelt every made a just or unbiased decision that is not politically advantageous to himself in his nineteen years as ruler of Dominica?
Ponder on that my people before you become giddy headed. I would have preferred to see a person, male or female, who works (ed) in the private sector and not for this scandal scarred government. That’s just my take.
Ibo MALAPROP FRANCE, if it was Edison James who was nominated, would you have commented the way you do now? Just asking….
Is there another nominee? If not, she already is the President of Dominica. No one votes for anything. Everyone is just placed. How can there be any kind of improvement(s). It’s like you eat and I swallow.
Just more ignorance and stupidity from a British-based Barrister. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for being so divisive for no reason whatsoever. Damn it.
Curious, stop making your self a Jacka like the rest of the blue aholes.Somebody becomes President according to the constitution. If the opposition leader does not agree with Skerrit’s nomination, she can nominate her own. That is when the Presidency is decided by the majority of elected members of Parliament
Divisive? Moi? You must mistake me by someone else. Perhaps your political master. He is the inventor of divisiveness. Look, mash. I can’t be bothered with you anymore. You are an amateur in every sense of the word.
I feel good creeping before I learn to walk. How about that?
I welcome and endorse the nomination of Sylvanie Burton for election in order to hold the Office of President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Sylvanie is a well qualified and experienced professional lady who has served well in the Public Service of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. She is also an active community oriented person in Kalinago Territory and a member of Dominica’s indigenous people, the Kalinagos.
I have been following the congratulatory messages from political parties and even lawyers and I have been asking myself what’s wrong with us? Does the constitution even matter? Here is one paragraph in this article that I am angry with:
: “f this nomination is supported by the Hon. Leader of the Opposition, Jesma Paul and the parliamentary opposition, Ms. Burton’s election as Head of State will be swift and unanimous, and we stand ready to work with the presidential nominee in the capacity of President.”
First, this party is implying that there is a problem with the process since they are not sure if the opposition leader was consulted or has her support. So if you are not sure why not wait until it is official to congratulate her? Why run and prejudice the matter? What if the opposition leader doesn’t agree with his choice? I find Skerrit’s has already corrupted everything in Dominica and has shown his disrespect for the constitution; so why help him? In fact that process is…
TUD, your pledge to build bonds of unity for meaningful progress is nothing else but another surrender to Skerrit. I am just speechless. How could any serious opposition party even contemplate in endorsing this woman. The mere fact that she had a senior position in Skerrits civil service, shows me that she is a loyal follower of his and his corrupt practices. Full stop, end of story!
Lawyer, what are you saying? So everyone in a position supports the Government in power? Lawyer, this is not “Skerrit civil service”. I am at a loss as to what you are saying. There are many civil servants who have been in the service for over 20 years. That ignoramus at its best. Why don’t you people read and know what you are talking about? Just misleading and deceptive people you all are. You people think you can just say as you please. Look at someone and say who they support with no facts. So a PS / Ass Sec / Junior Clerk/ Senior Clerk should not work with the now Prime Minister?
It amazes me how petty, ill-advised, not knowledgeable you folks can be. I hope you are not a real lawyer. You think everyone should be bitter and carry hatred in their heart for someone whom you do not like.
Stop this hatred towards a son of the soil. You may not support but where is God’s love? With your hateful attitude, you hurt yourself. Your heart skips when you hear of PM…
YES it is Skerrits Civil Service. Yes it is and it’s nothing but. He has been using this institution for years to reward loyal supporters with a good income. The civil servants by law should be politically impartial in their decision making. The Civil Service, the Militia and the Court System are Skerrits main power base.
TBH i thought the same thing. These days everybody getting down because things tight. More and more we know we see we feel that things not right in Dominica but we continue this madness. Cabinet and ministers will reshuffle. Skerro will offer top positions to people he feels he wants to control and the world keep turning. business as usual in Dominica. Meanwhile banks close, unemployment rising, taxes rising, salaries stagnant. but we continue to act like we have it made. travel to neighboring islands to see how much more developed they are.
