Dr Thomson Fontaine has been re-elected the political leader of the United Workers Party winning 83 Votes to Pastor Randy Rodney’s 73 votes.
The result came from the UWP Delegates conference that was held this evening.

In all of this, I think it’s the greatest disrespect to this PM who at least has a college degree and 20 years governmental experience to propose replacing bin with a man/pastor who has only read one book, proud to declare: one book only, of pure Europeanized African mythology, and, he obeys, indoctrinated to thinking it’s European.
“Et tu Brutus???”. Are we witnessing a very public and unfortunate implosion and meltdown of the UWP faithful?
Charity and loyalty still and will always begin at home. That being said, what should we make of this puzzling crabs in a barrel betrayal and takedown of Mr. Fontaine by his seemingly once most ardent supporters and annointers.
It is shocking to witness how Mr. Fontaine has gone from “he the one” to “he ain’t the one” in the twinkling of an eye of some the most prominent UWP faithful.
So wah happen to Lenny nuh? Has he bowed out of politics and focussing on another career? One would think that if UWP were serious about their leadership they would put up a serious candidate against Thomson for party leader. Not Pastor Dumbo. I suspect that Lenny decide to stay in the background from the leader election process and maybe stage a coup down the line to take back the leadership of the party. Skerro must be rubbing his hands at the prospect of calling another election with the opposition in such disarray.
Some time ago my childhood friend graduated from college with a degree in Communcation and Media. During his very first job interview for a part time Television News Anchor job, the interviewer told him bluntly that he had a face for radio but not for television.
I shared the preceding info to illustrate that typecasting is very much alive and well today. At the risk of being roasted and lambasted here, I will go out on a limb to state that Mr. Fontaine, a bright and accomplished gentleman by most accounts, appears to lack the charisma needed to ignite and inspire enough of a majority Dominicans to give him the keys to the country.

You stupes are making a lot of sense,Linton started the slide that is a fact.He(Linton)lost 3seats and more that 1,000 votes in the 2019 general election.What you fail to say is Fontaine has a dishonest record(1)The $27,500US and(2) the land at Rosalie not only that his family background.Where is his wife where are his children,what does he have to show in Dominica?No land,no house and no business.As a doctor of economics what has he done for Dominica?I am sure Fontaine cannot do better than Linton,all Fontaine do is talk,talk talk,townhall meetings and more townhall meetings that cannot work.83 votes to 75 votes as a season leader compared to a first timer means Thompson Fontaine is a loser.The majority of the Dominican electorate has NEVER supported UWP and Fontaine with his record of dishonesty cannot change that.
If you were not an idiot, you would have discovered that the odds are in Thomson favor whereas he got 83, out of approximately 146 votes; if you had any academics you would know Thomson got approximately 53% plus of the delegates votes, which proves confidence in one’s leadership!
UWP lost all its seats under the leadership of Lennox Linton but he does not get it! Pastor dumbo has not chance of ever being elected PM of Diminica!
UWP has a divisive culture of distrustful division since the leadership of Eddison James, Julius Tmothy, Norris Prevost and Sheridan Gregoire pulling the strings in the background!
Francis could not work with Linton, Isaac could not work with Linton, Timothy could not work with Eddison, Prevost did not trust any of them, Bannis could not work with them, it is a party built on dvision, long and short division. Dominica has never seen a party so divided and distrusting of each other. How could or would they govern!?
Dr Thomson Fontaine is not UWP problem, Eddison James, Lennox Linton, Pastor Rod and the Marigot Mafia is UWP’s biggest problem right now!

By the re-election Dr. Fontaome, a lackadaisical leader, the UWP has guaranteed a next five year term for thel Ba-Rob-Us led DLP.
Pastor Rodney came close although he publicly declared very late his intention to vie for the leadership of the UWP. This clearly shows that Dr. Contains is in shaky grounds rightfully so.
Any honest onlooker would tell you that the UWP has lost a lot of ground to the DLP. Under Dr. Fontaine’s disastrous tenure, the party is like a motor car with all four tyres punctured. It’s not going anywhere.
Unsurprising disingenuous bias from Ego again. Linton was also “lackluster” and you supported him while you Lambasted Dr Fontaine are you intimidated by Fontaine’s intellectual honesty and acumen?
UWP lost ground long before Fontaine and lost any stake when they decided to sit out the last election and vacate their seats in parliament. I don’t personally blame Linton myself but all those things happened or began under his leadership.
Fontaine has made a bigger effort than his predecessor to connect to the people.
Maybe Fontaine isnt up to the task or he is exactly what we need, but he needs enough time to prove that either way. For him to be a good leader he needs good followers too…not sychophants and yes men but not a bunch of loud mouthed self-centered anti-intellectual backstabbers either.

Bro I totally disagree with you but again do so respectfully. I believe Thompson and Randy will make a dynamic duo and therefore WE THE PEOPLE need to stand with them whole heartedly to ensure that they succeed. The UWP has four main issues;
1. The OLD guard have too many grudges and therefore spend too much time criticizing Thompson and his efforts to modernize the party
2. They fail to embrace changes that are needed in order to win in today’s political environment
3. The party’s constitution is not reflective of today’s reality
4. The Marigot klan must understand the UWP is a NATIONAL party. We love and appreciate their loyalty and fighting spirit but they need to support the elected leadership and STOP all this BS.
On another note….condi Blue-Blue; Who will be running in Marigot on the party ticket next election? That must be addressed ASAP! Lets go win the darn thing and save Ma Dominique from the the current rouges and vagabonds.
