The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has admonished US president Trump for his intention to withdraw US funding to the World Health Organization (WHO). In an article published on the UN news website, Guterres pointed out that “this is not the time” to be reducing funds to the WHO or any other organisation fighting the pandemic.
“Now is a time for unity in the global battle to push the COVID-19 pandemic into reverse, not a time to cut the resources of the World Health Organization (WHO), which is spearheading and coordinating the global body’s efforts, said UN chief António Guterres, on Tuesday.”
The UN chief’s statement came on the heels of President Trump’s announcement in which he aired a laundry list of complaints against the WHO and in particular Tedros Adhanom, the Secretary-General of the organization.
Adhanom has been under fire by the Trump administration which has claimed that he blatantly and corruptly favours China and has made grave missteps in the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Adhanom has come under increased scrutiny for the US administration’s comments and also for his public statement on the racism he claims he receives. He made the claim at a press conference where he was asked if recent the criticism from world leaders undermines his ability to respond to the crisis.
At the time of publishing, the WHO secretary-general had not responded to Trump’s announcement to withdraw funding from his organization.
The WHO failed humanity by becoming Chinacentric for whatever reason. When all is said and done Dr.Tedros will be gone period! The USA will make sure he is the fall person that will drive change within. Remember I said it here

Thanks to the internet people can see these facts for themselves. Oh how they long for the days when they could put what they wanted people to see on the media and nobody would have any other information.
The fact is China lied and the WHO regurgitated those lies and many people died as a result. They are trying to blame Trump now even though he was the one to take the most drastic actions even before it seemed like this thing would get serious.
Also not to mention there are several factors that people are not taking into consideration like false reporting of deaths, lack of sufficient testing to confirm the actual number of infections (the death rate would massively drop).
There are nurses in US hospitals spending their time making tik-tok dance videos. Maybe things are not as bad as the media is trying to make them out to be.

Sometime ago, Trump & Co mentioned that it is possible the COVID death rate may be much lower than the current figure as it is possible that quite a number of people may have been infected with the virus unknowingly, did not seek medical care & recovered on their own. As a result, the death rate percentage would be much lower.
Trump was ridiculed for that view. Yesterday, a mainstream news agency reported that the # of people who may have been infected with COVID may indeed be much higher than the current figure.
A comparison of the infection & death rates between COVID & the annual influenza outbreaks when this is over could be interesting. According to WHO, worldwide, annual influenza outbreaks result in an estimated 3-5 million severe cases & 290,000 – 650,000 respiratory deaths.
I wonder why hasn’t the annual flu outbreaks triggered a similar worldwide response as for COVID?

Many times, I read articles here and find myself more confused at the end than at the beginning. This article is no exception. The title states that the WHO remains silent. The last sentence states “At the time of publishing, the WHO secretary-general head responded to Trump’s announcement to withdraw funding from his organization.” If so, then what was his response, and doesn’t that mean that the WHO was not silent? (unless he responded in a personal capacity)
I see many errors from spelling, to grammar, to downright conflicting and confusing statements, as well as a lack of clarity in many articles here. It’s happening consistently. I have resisted posting a comment like this but these errors are quite frustrating and hopefully this might catalyze an improvement in the publications here.
I’m a Dominican living abroad hope that this serves as constructive criticism as what I really want is to see DNO improve the quality of its journalism, and hence attract…
