I posted a comment in your forum yesterday and you took it down for no apparent reason. Why are you doing this? My comment was fair as I was asking a pertinent question in light of the crisis that this world is plagued with. I was not being unreasonable.
I also pointed out the fact that I am Partially Haitian and St Lucia. I find your omission of my comment to be without foundation. You have no reason to take my comment down. There are far worst comments being posted and yet you allow them to flourish on your blog. Why did you have to take mine down? To say that I am appalled would be an understatement. Whatever happened to free speech. Do you practice free speech in Dominida? Please explain the reason for taking down my comment.

ADMIN: The comment was not taken down as it was not posted until today. Comments are usually moderated within 24 hours – often much sooner.

Malcolm L’Overture I salute u descendant of Toussaint L’Overture. I look forward to you telling people about the role played by Toussaint L’Overture in the development of the Caribbean region. Let the truth be known so the Caribbean people will not discriminate the haitian people. I always say that there are many Dominican and more broadly caribbean nationals residing all over the world in large numbers. Aruba, Curacoa, St Martin/St Maarten, Antigua, Guadeloupe, France, UK, USA. I know this is not the forum but I hate it when our people speak against the Haitian Nationals – a sister Caribbean country.

The sentence for such senseless and greedy killings should be as severe as the fine imposed by the Master at the High Court. It is sad that civil judgements are much more severe than the punishment for heinous crimes. Something is terrible wrong. It is people like that who the police should kill and not innocent people like Joshua Etienne who they killed some years ago. I hope Daniel Carbon utilise all resources available to the police and if needs be go to the very Chinese for resources and assistance in solving that crime. The guilty person deserves to be executed and since our judges are more sympathetic with criminals than victims and their family I hope they will impose a life sentence on the thug.

I am wondering whether this killing has anything to do with the CoronaVirus that is taking over the world right now.It started in China and it is spreading like flies. No one has said anything about this. When I first saw that story I immediately thought Virus killing maybe. Perhaps the victim was plagued with Corona and someone took him out to protect the country.

But after reading thru the comments I am able to deduce that this Chinese man was for all intense and purposes an affable man who lived in Dominica and was happy to live there. I have noticed the caustic comments about Haitians and I am not very happy with people blaming Haitians for some of the ills in this lovely island. Haitians work very hard in Dominica to earn a living and to send remittances back home to their poor families. They are grateful to Dominica, a fellow Caribbean island for helping them out. I am half Haitian and half St Lucian residing in Europe. Please tone down the hateful comments- We are One…

Yes Malcolm just like the Dominicans would go to the various islands – Antigua, Aruba, Curacoa, St thomas, St Croix, UK (Most of my relatives migrated to the UK) and they would send remittances to us (poor families) in Dominica. Lest we forget where we were and where we are now. We are now like the ST Maarten/ST Thomas/UK/Antigua/ Aruba/Curacoa/USA our own people went to and sent us remmittances. We should give God all the glory and recognise that we were in similar situation but he has blessed us to bless others just like we were blessed in the past.

I like to say it how it is – The Truth. I often wonder how sarcastic and unsympathetic we have become. We do not always remember where we were. Some are indeed compawaizon. Manyof our families are still in the countries I mentioned . Alas !

Oneof these days, someone will accuse you wrongly and I wonder how u will feel. Stop that nonesense talk for once. And let me tell u in no uncertain terms – This land called Dominica is blessed. We reverse your curse word and we pray that u get healed to see clearly and to speak good over your land if indeed you are a Dominican. jamie stop speaking and saying things with no proof whatsoever.

I do not understand why you are complaining about this situation in Portsmouth Area. This has been on going for years. We all saw it and knew what to do about it.
We had the opportunity recently to effectively bring about change on Dominica….. via the polls. We choose to remain under a regime that looks out only for these politicians. They are wicked
So stop complaining and take what you get !!!

One life lost is to much, but I must say I don’t ever see so many concern comments for a fellow Dominican who have lost there life on the streets of Dominica. I hear people cry out for the lost of there children and they get no attention from gov’t or police in quest for justice, so let us all speak out against crime against our own people the way we speak out for the foreigners. because in the end we all suffer/Dominica suffers.

Zing was a great man. This man always encourage ppl to start business. Always making conversation with his customers and treating his customers better than us Dominicans treat each other and that is not a lie. Why kill him? Everybody knows him as Cheng. Whoever did this will not see good because that man had a good heart and was full of love. Shame on the person. Woe unto the person who killed Cheng. Looking at the video he didn’t even fight back. He said ok you can get the money. So why shoot him? Why? This person will suffer and be haunted. They have to open their own mouth and admit that they shot Cheng. The man sells his little meals and vegetables. Well known by Possie people. The police did a poor job. The shooting happened after 10. They didn’t show up until 11:15pm. Mr PM arm the police properly. Pay them properly. Help us run these hooligans from our town. We tired! We fedup! Let’s take back Possie! Time to shake them down. Run them from the blocks. Hello and good afternoon my people. First I want to offer my condolence to the victim family for their lost. It’s always sad and troubling to hear that someone is killed in my sweet Dominica. As someone who has twenty four years of law enforcement experience with twenty one years of conducting investigations. It’s troubling as to how the Police handle such investigations because this crime occurred on February 4th and as of the fifth the body is released to a private funeral home. The government should have a pathologist or a medical examiner to perform an autopsy because at this stage we don’t know if the victim was poisoned and Then shot or did he died as a result of a gun shot. Suppose the funeral home conduct an autopsy and say that the victim died from natural causes then he was shot. How can the police disprove that when they didn’t perform an autopsy and they didn’t maintain chain of custody of the body. I hope the victim family hire private investigators to find the…

what we are reading is a man has been shot and he is dead. You find witnesses and murder weapon, then the suspect or suspects. The suspect got the evidence and their motives. Dead men tell no tails. Your suspect is already escape on you. They last seen the victim alive at 9.30 pm.Every comments have a kind word to say about the victim and the killer still at large. Get the killer, the victim is not wounded, he can wait.

24 years of law enforcement experience including 21 years as an investigator and that is the nonsense you’re talking? The man was shot point blank. Even if he died of a heart failure right after, it will be as a result of the gun shot wound.
Please tell me which which CSI unit you’re part off so I can have you demoted. You need to be a traffic cop.

My deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim.

What a calamity . First of all the suspect must be handed over to the Chinese authoarity, find the suspect associates, where does he work and who paid him to carry out the crime. The police needs outside help on this one. Accomplices and gangs. The suspect must be given maximum protection at all times. I am afraid and worried

    February 5, 2020

Sad, sad, sad. That’s not good people. The police will have a very hard time investigating it because of the amount of foreigners residing at Picard these days. It’s not like before we could say is maybe so and so since we knew all the bad boys around, though the person doesn’t really have to be from Portsmouth. I am not blaming anyone but the truth is, Picard, especially that area has three times more Haitians than Dominicans, as well as Spanish, people from the middle east, Iranians, and all kinds of nationalities. Who knows maybe that person has already made it to Guada or St. Martin already. But it’s sad and my condolences to the family. PM please don’t use that as an excuse for not building the airport because this kind of thing happens all over the world, especially in cities where people not working yet so many foreigners.

That’s a very sad story, not because it’s a Chinese but because that could have been me, my brother, relative or friend and for that I offer my heart felt sympathy to the family. I know this kind of crime could happen even if the economy was booming in Dominica or Picard, but the truth is the state that Skerrit, Ian, pm Austrie and Nathan have Portsmouth, I am scared for the future of this once upon a time great town with slot of potential. I still cannot understand how my people would allow Skerrit and the gangsters above to allow Ross University to move to Barbados, with help from Skerrit and the people still rewarded them with 5 more years! Portsmouth, Picard is now a ghost town or a dead end. I remember Skerrit met four banks in Portsmouth now we are down to one. We had Subway and some good international restaurants. We whitchurch and just about everything. We are left with nothing other than lies, empty promises, Haitians like flies, and a daily disaster caused by our own DLP

I live in picard. I bought a pack of cigarettes from this man last night at 9:30. He was such a nice humble man.

Since ross left Picard has become a slum. Full of Haitians and low life locals hanging on the corner. This is a direct result of the desperation of a community with no money, no work, no business. In fact both Portsmouth a d picard have been on a downward spiral since Maria.

The great politicians that run this country have sucked the blood out of this community and done nothing, nothing to help. Skerritt, where is the new school? More lies. Skerritt why is kempinski running with an occupancy of 5 rooms or less a night? Douglas, when they going to fix the roads in picard.

Whitchurch closing, many other business’s shutting down, many running at a loose trying to get out. This is becoming a disaster and you goverment leaders DOING NOTHING.

Attention seeking for individuals with very low self-esteem as a result of having no personal achievements, has reach and all time high with the advent of public forums on which to express themselves. It is so bad that it ignores morals and decency and cause then to say and do anything as long as it satisfy their sick needs. A very sad state of affairs when you can make such a statement when we are talking about the killing of another human being.
