US considering new embassies in two OECS Countries; PM says Dominica stands ready to facilitate this to the fullest extent

In light of the United States State Department’s announcement that it is contemplating establishing two embassies in the Eastern Caribbean region, Prime Minister Rosevelt Skerrit has voiced his government’s full support in facilitating this move.

When recently asked at a press briefing as to the measures being taken by his government to ensure Dominica’s readiness, he revealed that discussions had taken place between his government and officials from the US embassy and the State Department. He noted that a representative from the US team had recently visited Dominica, highlighting the seriousness of the discussions.

Skerrit however emphasized that the final decision rests with the US government, stating, “At the end of the day, it is a determination for the United States government to make. If they decide Dominica is one of them, we would certainly welcome this.”

He also shared that, if selected, the US flag would proudly fly on a building located on property owned by the US government in Dominica.

“So we are prepared to facilitate them to the fullest extent with the establishment of an embassy of the United States government in Dominica,” he declared. “We had discussions with them. And I have made an offer to them and I will certainly welcome them.”

Skerrit went on to highlight the relationship between Dominica and the United States, emphasizing the US’ contributions to Dominica in areas such as citizenship by investment (CBI), geothermal initiatives, and security, noting that Dominica welcomes this strengthening relationship.

The head of government further affirmed that regardless of the decision, it would not impact Dominica’s relationship with the United States. While Skerrit says that he will only act once the news has been delivered concerning the US decision, in contrast, the government of Antigua and Barbuda has taken an assertive approach in anticipation of the embassy announcement. Prime Minister Gaston Browne revealed that a plot of land has already been designated for potential use by the US government.

While no official declaration has been made, Browne expressed confidence that his country would be chosen citing their sizable population as a compelling factor in their favor.

I do not see any USA embassy opening in Dominica. Dominica should be bold enough not to accept any US Embassy in Dominica. In a time when Dominica has Diplomatic relations with the Peoples Republic of China and the political situation with the United States – ongoing tension and with the amount of assistance we got from the Peoples Republic of China – commonsense would tell our leaders that at this time no Embassy should be opened in Dominica.

In a time where the USA and the People’s Republic of China are at ODDS with each other – one would think that Dominica would be deliberate about saying NO to this Embassy as this is one thing that we could do to ensure great friendship.
Like the last Ambassador who was sacked when she established Diplomatic relations with Syria what is happening NOW and said at a later date but for the USA Embassy today you all are quick to accept. I don’t support asinine. The USA has failed.

This is perplexing because Skerritt allowed RUSM to leave Dominica for Barbados because he didn’t want Americans on the island. Remember when America went to recover it’s citizens from the majee in Grenada? Skerritt knows that if the concerned citizens take a stand against his autocratic regime and there were Americans students and other Americans on island then the USA would come in to rescue them. Therefore when he says that he will welcome the location of a US Embassy in Dominica he’s just saying what he thinks most people want to hear but that’s not what he really wishes for. Concerned citizens want the US Embassy here because it will help the course correction towards an inclusive democracy and the rule of law. Uncle Sam, if you are listening, please choose Dominica for one of the Embassy locations. God Bless America.🇺🇲. Goodbye Alba.😁

You all are just full nothing. If you knew what is going on. The United States has failed as a nation itself. The nonsense that is going on here in the United States – people literally jumping on people, were we raised like this in Dominica? People are passing and doing all kinds of garbage were we raised like this?

In the United States the people have lost their RIGHTS TO FREE SPEECH. People their mouths are already shut. They are engaging in all nonsense here – the police that is in this with people. In the United States there are people in Jail that cannot be let out, they cannot be released we never had this and this should not be allowed to happen or even given a slightest chance to happen.

Police cannot do investigations here on REAL people they are doing their investigations and causing issues in communities. These rich guys here when you call one a homeless person comes.

If the US builds an embassy here is simply to monitor the Chinese Ministry Of Surveillance located in Morne Daniel. China will not have it and so we may well become the center of a diplomatic dispute for an extended period. Also, if it happens its simply because the SOS agreed to save himself from a US jail. USA is always ahead…stay tuned.

And what is America doing to stop the Chinese surveillance on American soil? You and America have bigger problems with China setting up military facilities in Cuba, and don’t forget the number of Chinese facilities they have in the US.

” United States State Department’s announcement that it is contemplating establishing two embassies in the Eastern Caribbean region, Prime Minister Rosevelt Skerrit has voiced his government’s full support in facilitating this move.”
The definition of facilitate, or facilitating implies making an action, or process easier: It is like having access to different facilities in one location making access to both easy, like stepping out of one door into the other.
And whereas it is said establishing in the Eastern Caribbean, it could be any place since the geographic locations of the Eastern Caribbean stretches in an arc southwards from Puerto Rico to Grenada, the Eastern Caribbean islands includes Antigua, and St. Lucia, and further south to the Southern American cost a few miles from Venezuela; the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Dutch island of Aruba!
No place I read where Dominica is specifically named; Roosevelt is simply hatching his egg before he lay’s it!

That’s a done deal and Skerrit already knows the US has chosen Dominica. However, what Skerrit doesn’t know is, their reason for coming to Dominica is to better monitor the China / corruption network of Skerrit. He thought the US would allow China to just come through their backyard? He better think again

Why would you make a closed statement like that; Roosevelt is one who is known to be a notorious pathetic compulsive liar; according him the said setting up on two Eastern Caribbean island, if it is true it could be on any of the following islands.
Note: The Eastern Caribbean islands include:
      Anguilla
      Antigua and Barbuda
      Barbados
      British Virgin Islands (BVI)
      Commonwealth of Dominica
The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is a nine-member grouping comprising Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines; they can utilize any of the above for the purpose.
There is already an embassy in Barbados, Santa Domingo, Georgetown Guyana, Port-au-Prince Kingston Jamaica, Paramaribo, Port-of-Spain Trinidad and a U.S. Consulate General in Curacao.
The embassy in Antigua closed in June of 1994. For all we know they can reopen in Antigua.
Skerrit words can’t be trusted; expect nothing!

If Dr. SOS had avoided the departure of Ross University, the US would have a positive reason to have an embassy here.

But with the biggest Chinese embassy in the Caribbean being in Dominica, a US embassy could be a significant strategic implant with the ulterior motive to keep an eye on the “Foodogs” in their backyard, so we might see a US embassy here soon.

I am in the part of the United States where the United States citizens and the police are engaging in such illegal activity and even the court system is engaging in Corruption and accepting of criminal activity – certain judges and attorneys are engaging in aiding and abetting – supporting their friends to commit crimes and using those who cannot do what they are doing to cover up criminal activity.

Here this is where the police is trying to think that they are doing something and trying to put foreigners and foreign government officials behind bars.

we don’t have an international airport though hmmm, our health services are miserable, you can’t give Dem land in morne Daniel in close proximity to the Chinese.
however Dominica has a unique geographical location….. dead center……it would be in de US interest to get close enough….they maybe doing that move because of your ambitiousness Skerrit with China as your cushion!
They don’t need to be inside Skerrit…… just close enough to cause high alert and suspicion.

Antigua will most likely get it because of their air access and the fact that hurricanes and disasters hardly bother them there, also housing and hotel accommodations. Dominica doesn’t have the capacity to host frequent and multiple visitors in a large numbers. You think the US government going to wait for an international airport pipe dream in the sky airport to be built when it already has easily accessible countries.

For more than fifty years the U.S have opened and closed Embassy in Antigua, the earliest ones were prior to the 1960 was closed it is alleged due to lots of corruption.
The details I will not get into, what I do know is that a former ambassador died in Antigua after becoming an Antiguan, Owned a small hotel at one time.
He a night club called “The Bucket of Blood” he has children born there, became a lawyer.
      And the rest is history!

The US Navy used to have a satellite tracking station on Antigua and the US air force had regular flights to Antigua with supply’s and mail for US military personnel stationed there on Antigua. People in the US military from the Caribbean could take military flights hops to Antigua from the US mainland before the base was closed they then would get a regional flight from there saving them money. Antigua would be a logistical choice. The PM of Dominica needs to be replaced before the US would ever consider putting an embassy there due to his sorry reputation.

That is true, they had a regular base there, The international Airport in Antigua is a left behind by U.S, So to is the Pan American (PANAM) facility they left at Coolidge.
The Texaco and ESSO fuel Bulk plant was East of the base. The club “Bucket of Blood” owned by Fuller the former ambassador was Northern end adjacent to ESSO near the Beach.
The bulk plants of Texaco, ESSO, and Shell pulled out of there when Dominica born Frank D. St. Hi lire WIOC (West Indies Oil Company now detain defunct commenced refining crude oil in Antigua.
Frank tried to build his refinery in Dominica, our government told him “we doh want it.” And the government was not UWP it was Labor Government!
Our stupid people in a certain bank in Dominica screwed up JoJo Karan prevented him from getting the agency in Dominica.
Who wish to call me lie can do so but I was the kid traveling between Antigua and Dominica collecting every document signed by Dr. Liverpool the late and government in setting up in DA.
