The United Workers Party (UWP) is concerned about the security of its leader, Lennox Linton and its members contesting the upcoming general elections.
The President of the UWP Isaac Baptiste told Dominicanewsonline that his concerns intensified following the circulation of a video showing a Caucasian man walking to the doorsteps of Linton’s home towing a small suitcas behind him.
There have been videos circulating on social media that have been labelled as fake news with supporters of the ruling Dominica Labour Party and the opposition UWP pointing fingers at each other over their production.
The story circulating online behind the video of the Caucasian man is that the man was caught on camera visiting Mr. Linton and the briefcase supposedly contained millions of dollars – notably, the man can be seen looking in the direction of the camera at several points in the video.
However, Baptiste said the opposition leader has made it clear that he does not know the gentleman and he has no business dealing, “whether it is about elections or whatever with this gentleman.”
In defense of his leader, Baptiste said all Dominicans who knows Linton knows that he is trustworthy, honest and “once he speaks to an issue, he is frank and straightforward on the issue. What we are concerned about as a party is the security of Mr. Linton and our candidate for this general election,” he remarked.
Baptiste is convinced that whoever is the mastermind behind the videos are cronies of the DLP.
“They are trying to change the narrative of the discussion at the national level, which is there must be electoral reform before the next general election, that the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance must account to the nation with respect to the [alleged] missing monies under the CBI Programme,” Baptiste told our newsroom.
But Baptiste said the latest situation tells a story of the seriousness of this general election.
“It is clear to us that the Dominica Labour Party at the national level are not the ones in control of their campaign and foreign individuals have slowly taken over the campaign of the opponent DLP,” Baptiste indicated.
He is also calling on National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore to make statement regarding the need for protection and for a clean election.
“It is not enough to go on the political platform and make noise,” he stated. “It is now a serious issue. Dominicans need to be concerned as to who is in charge of this campaign of the Dominica Labour Party…”
Baptiste added, “They need to be concerned of the fear of criminal activity and the fear of lives being lost at this upcoming election.”
Meantime, in a Facebook post earlier today Linton said “when the campaign to assassinate my character fails, the criminal enterprise will assassinate me. Then, hopefully, the passport money pirates, will be free to enjoy their billion-dollar loot without let or hindrance. And life will go on? Just like that?”.
The 2.2 B, US dollar question is, “What is in the bag?” Was it something good or was it something dangerous. Was the police called to investigate the content of the bag and the identity of the deliverer.
Remember Linton IS/WAS an investigative reporter, So why is Baptiste the person talking on this matter.
When uwp was asking “way de money” was that a coded message to say the money was not received, so the deliverer had to post vdeo evidence to show that the money was delivered.

But PLANTING of evidence is something entirely different to frame someone.
Face facts.norrow down the evidence. There are only three persons involved. The Camera man ,VEDEO and the delivery man. The poor chap does not know where the money is coming from, and he does know Linton. All he was given was an address to deliver. He had to ensure that ,he was seen at the address otherwise ,he wont get paid. Whosoever send that money will contact Linton by phone. Job is done, delivery man got paid. Money sender, sees Linton later. So easy ,bravo we’ve done it. Honesty is the best policy.
Instead of bolting to the media, Baptiste should have gone to the police and ask for investigation and for a 24/7 security detail for Linton.
Now he and Linton are crying about a conspiracy to assassinate Linton, again why not give the police a heads up on this.
Can Linton and Baptiste be charged with harbouring a crime and tampering with evidence ?
Was Linton home when the man with a bag arrived and rang his doorbell ?
Did Linton try to find out what a foreign looking white man was doing at his door ?
Linton and Baptiste claim that they do not know the white man, but if they foresee foul play why not call for police intervention right away.
The police cannot act without a formal complain, so why the media attention. Take the video to the police and ask for a security detail, and investigation.
The man can be picked up for questioning and prevented from leaving Dominica. His passport can be withheld.
As Parliamentarians these two guys should know the law.
Your suggestions are wonderful and reasonable, only no formal reporting have been done by Linton. Not to the police, not to his lawyer. There is no information that someone is wanted on suspicion of crimes committed, No notice of someone wanted for questioning.

There needs to be international monitors and security personal from other countries in Dominica for the next election especially around polling places to keep out all the goon squads playing soldier in camouflage intimidating voters. We are in October of 2019, according to reports this video was taken in June of 2019, this is not recent. The photos of this same gentleman meeting with opposition leader and other UWP candidates at the UWP candidate launch in May 2019 also surfaced recently. Who is this man? The UWP should tell us since to date he is only seen hanging around UWP events, shaking hands and greeting UWP candidates including the leader. Could this be UWP propaganda? If it is, it was done with professional taste. The only error here is the guy in the photo if he has criminal intentions did not seem nervous suggesting that he is good at what he does, (even if only acting).
