WCMF should be positively promoted as ours, says Walsh

Nathalie Walsh addressing WCMF press briefing

Festivals and Event Manager of Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), Nathalie Walsh has encouraged members of the media and the rest of the Dominica public to positively promote the 23rd World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled for October 27-29.

Her call came while addressing a WCMF press briefing held on Wednesday.

According to Walsh, if a negative vibe is being spread then that is what one will attract.

“I want to encourage our radio personality, I want to encourage the media, I want to encourage our influencers and our ambassadors to speak positively about the festival,” she encouraged. “This is the 23rd edition of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival, so it speaks for itself.”

Walsh continued, “Twenty-three years we have had a successful event, so I am really asking the media, I am asking the Dominican public to post and share positive vibes about our festival.”

She added, “The festival is ours to promote. When you hear the other markets doing their festival you don’t see so much negativity about the festival, so we really want to get you to post positive things about the festival, share and like the DFC page www.dominicafestivals.com and share the marketing aspects, share your views, express your concerns and hopefully we will be able to address it the following year.”

Furthermore,  she called on everyone to have a peaceful independence season.

“So again, no weapons, you are not allowed to enter the stadium or any of the events with weapons. Come and enjoy some good music,” Walsh warned.

Meanwhile, she reminded the public that the season ticket special at $375 will end at midnight Thursday, October 5.

The price will then be increased to $400 and $50 will be added if tickets are purchased at the gate.

She encouraged the Dominican public to turn out in large numbers to support the event.

If people perceived the WCMF to be a positive event and worth the money, there wouldn’t be negative comments. Do your job better.

Keep on talking. How many tickets did the government buy? It’s like two thousand years ago, the old Roman rulers knew that all they had to give to the masses to keep them quiet was Bread and Games. Skerrit does exactly the same and would you believe it, he gets away with it as well.
