As of the latest update from the Dominica Meteorological Office At 2pm, Tropical Storm Bret was located about 212 miles south east of Dominica, moving westward at about 14mph. The track and intensity forecasts are projecting for the centre of Bret to move across the Lesser Antilles over the islands just south of Dominica, as a very strong tropical storm tonight.
An increase in cloudiness, showers, winds and thunderstorms are expected over Dominica as the day progresses, particularly during the afternoon, with conditions deteriorating further, overnight. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be vigilant.
Moderate to rough seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours, with swells peaking to 12.0ft, along the eastern coast. Small-craft operators and sea bathers should stay away from the water. People traversing coastal roadways should exercise caution.
Residents should closely monitor Tropical Storm Bret. Hurricane season plans should be activated to protect life, property and livelihood.
