The Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT), led by its President, Mervin Alexander, is gearing up to celebrate World Teacher’s Day on October 6th, 2023, with a day filled with fun and games at Castle Bruce. Alexander expressed his excitement about the day-long event.
“We are looking forward to having a whole day of fun and games,” Alexander said.
The association has an array of activities planned, including a public speaking contest and a spelling bee for both primary and secondary school students. The DAT president voiced his anticipation of increased school participation in these events.
Meanwhile, Alexander expressed the DAT’s appreciation for the government’s initiative to construct new schools across various island communities. He believes this will significantly alleviate the challenges faced by students and teachers, thereby enhancing the educational environment.
Mr. Alexander concluded by emphasizing that teaching is more than just a profession. He said it’s a lifelong journey of learning and growth. He encouraged teachers to continue broadening their horizons to provide their students with the best education possible and equip them for future challenges.
Enjoy the drive! that road is a national disaster.

ADMIN: We appreciate your feedback.
Teachers are among the the lowest paid professionals in Dominica. In fact, many of them live in subtle poverty.
Instead the union president agitate robustly for higher salaries, more benefits and better working conditions for his members, he is giving the do-nothing government commendation for empty promises.
Teachers you will be forever remain in your substandard living conditions because of your docility. Change this inactive, submissive fellow as your representative. You need a more serious, vibrant ‘ go getter’.
