Alberta Christian, MSA departed this life on February 4, 2025 at 2:30 a.m. EST. We give thanks for her life of service to the last, the least and the left behind. In this moment we remember her work as a 4 H Club leader at St. Joseph, Dominica during the dark days of World War II, her service to the Dominica Branch of the British Red Cross in its early days on our island, service as a nurse at the St. Luke's Mental Home and Princess Margaret Hospital, and her work as the Director of the Dominica Workshop for the Blind (1965-1989) and recipient of the Meritorious Service Award (MSA, 1982) medal from the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica for decades of service in the field of craft industry education to the blind and disabled communities of Dominica. A warm embrace and salute to a mother and nation-builder!

Dear Bro Gabe,
We were sad to hear of your mother’s death. She was indeed a remarkable woman. She gave much to Dominica – in her community service as a founding member of the Dominica Red Cross, in her leadership of the National Council for Women, and above all, for her dedicated service as Manager of the Workshop for the Blind, for which she was honored with Dominica’s Meritorious Service award. But we must also honor her for the work she did for her family, and the ethics she instilled in her children, most of whom have excelled in the various professions. Her caring and selfless contribution will live on in the many lives she touched. Do accept our sympathy and condolences for you and your family.
