Now that Alwyn has been laid to rest, I think that it is fitting that all DGS alumni, who have benefitted from his teachings get together and donate funds to help Anita set up a foundation in his name.

I suggest that we get together in The United Kingdom, USA and Canada, and form an old secondary school, association.
We can ensure that the name Alwyn Bully never dies by ensuring that the foundation has finance to:

    (1) Keep The Old Mill Theatre going Putting Plays for tourists, so that The Peoples Action Theatre continues in its existence.

    2) Establishing a museum at Mr Bully home on King George 5th street, so that Tourists and Dominicans can see what he did in Arts, Painting , Sculpture and Music and Dance.

(3)Creating scholarships for young members of PAT.

These are just some ideas which spring to my mind. I am sure that Anita and Colin Bully are better placed to decide, than I am. In the next few weeks I will try to get this going in the UK.

ADMIN: There are already plans to setup a foundation. We will carry the story when the individuals involved are ready to go public with the details.

Alwyn Bully was house master of Benedict Joseph House at DGS. We never won anything significant in terms of house points at B.J, always being beaten by Skinner, Dawbiney and Dupigney but we gave good competition. I won Boys -over 16 -100 and 200 meters sprints in 1974.

We have much to learn from the Old School song:
“The greatest of all builders wrought with his mighty hand, all that we see around us in sky and sea and land.

The mansion he made was perfect, nor could it be otherwise, he from its deep foundations, made visible with patience , a school for human eyes.

When boyhood days are over, fare forth to wider lore, building on with the old school spirit, craftsmen for ever more.
The mansion he made was perfect, nor could it be otherwise, he from its deep foundations, made visible with patience , a school for human eyes.

Let us be craftsmen like Alwyn- for ever more.
