The funeral and interment of the late Lambert Airall of Dos D’ Ane who resided in New York took place in New York on Saturday June 27, 2020.
Lambert Simon Airall was born in the village of Dos D’ Ane in The Commonwealth of Dominica on October 28, 1948 to Mary Casey and Stuart Airall.
He attended primary schools in Soufriere and Portsmouth and obtained his secondary school education at the Dominica Grammar School.
After secondary school, he joined a team of insurance agents working with the late Elaine Pringle. Around 1972, he migrated to the United States (via Puerto Rico) and settled in Brooklyn, New York, where he resided until his passing.
Lambert spent many years pursuing a successful career in carpentry and joinery in NY. His tenure as a student at the Technical Wing of the Dominica Grammar School no doubt contributed to his interest and skills in these areas.
In the early nineties Lambert encountered some medical challenges that precluded further work in the carpentry trade. This did not, however, restrict his movements or dampen his enthusiasm for the outdoors. Having shied away from academics in the past, the additional time that he then found on his hands led him to pursue and obtain a bachelors degree in Information Technology from City University of New York.
Lambert was generous beyond belief. All you had to do was hint that you liked something he had and it was yours! He loved family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it may have been needed. Any family arriving in New York only needed to let him know of his/her presence and his door would be open with a hot meal and a place to shelter from the stormy night.
While he lived in the US for the greater part of his life, he never forgot his roots and returned to his homeland whenever he could. There, he was admired for his ability to relate to everyone, young and old. He had a special love for his aunt Christiana, who raised him and who he credited with instilling in him the enduring values that shaped his life.
Lambert loved sports cars. Towards the end, even when his health was failing, he got great joy simply sitting in his Dodge Challenger, listening to music or using it as a base from which to call his many friends. As a youngster, he was a keen cricketer and also dabbled in music. Over all these decades, while he never pursued music as a carreer, his keyboard was never far away.
Lambert Simon Airall will be remembered as a kind, towering gentleman who adored his kids, who had a special love for all his extended family and who never complained about his situation, no matter how challenging it may have been.
He will be missed by many, many relatives and friends throughout the world. Rest in eternal peace Airall...
