“This international airport will not cost Dominican tax payer a penny it is our money Ok! “(Man Dog”).
Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.(Thomas Gray).
You dog made the claim that the airport will not cost Dominica taxpayers a penny, then you deny saying so, how can you be trusted when we prove you to be a liar?
Now you suggest someone ask Edison James what happened to the money borrowed from Trinidad.
Well James will not respond, but I am here to direct you to Roosevelt Skerrit, Artie Martin, the late Roosevelt Douglas, Ian Douglas, Pierre Charles and the rest of the stupid labor party who chased the Trinidad & Tobago Contractors, and Airport Building Engineers who was in Dominica working on the first phase of the International Airport out of the country.
When James lost the election all the money was in the bank; the old money hungry labor politicians thief it all and decided it among themselves.
I wonder how much of that a certain prime minister got?
Dog, it okay for you to talk crap, but remember The government of Trinidad had to take the labor government to court to recover their money. The same idiots who said “we doh want no International Airport because Antigua, and Barbados have one already.
If the went on and build the one the UWP was building it would have cost the country approximately four hundred million East Caribbean dollars, less that St. Vincent Argyle International which cost just over seven hundred million dollars to build.
In the meanwhile Gonzales brainwashed Roosevelt into spending $500,000,000.00 dollars perhaps US, in the installation of landing lights at Melville Hall when some fool could have used that same amount to build a new International Airport.
Now Roosevelt claims it is going to cost a billion, but decline to disclose if it going in United States currency, or East Caribbean currency.
Boy, there is a curse on the leaders of Dominica whom are in power!
Dominica does not need an international airport. Where is the study that says that an international airport is a good investment for Dominica…??? The country would have been better off spending that billion on a world class marina facility in Portsmouth…!!!
You know I did not want to comment in anyway on this, but reading your stupid comment reminds me that there are lots of stupid people in our country. Anyone who suggest that Dominican or any nation in a modern world as we exists at the moment in the twenty-second century, suggest that Dominica does not need an International Airport must be a fool!
I am not prepared to say I am a supporter of Roosevelt Skerrit, my only anger about the proposed project is that Roosevelt could have utilized the land already bought and paid for by Edison James (UWP) between Wesley, and Woodford Hill, which is the most suitable place on the island to accommodate such a venture.
You all can hate me if you wish, but it is people with your kind of mentality which cause Dominica to be so damn backwards and poor!
I don’t like Roosevelt politics, I don’t like his idea of screwing my village, if I had the opportunity of opening his head because of that I’d do it, but building the airport is a good thing!
Spoken like someone who either doesn’t travel or only travels regionally. The pain it takes to get to Dominica is just not worth the effort for most tourists who can actually make an impact on the country’s GDP.
Boy that Ibo France is one bitter Dominican.
It’s one thing to have opinions but these posts that look like they’re being shot out of a high powered automatic assault rifle.
That individual complains about DNO being used by Skerrit because all these government news stories. But on this story alone he/she posted no less that 4 separate rants.
If DNO were to adhere to his/her wishes, what would he/she now do for a hobby?
Look I am no supporter or defender of the PM. Or any politician for that matter. Just an independent, open-minded. objective Dominican.
Your moniker is ‘We The People’. That needs a little adjustment. It should be ‘We The Diehards Of Roosevelt’.
I have nothing but disdain, contempt and a strong aversion for lying, unscrupulous reprobates like Roosevelt who control the purse strings of the country. I’m unapologetic about it. Your estrogen based attack does not bother me.
Or ‘We the Dunce Reds’…
Where is the high level of unemployment.UWP started bringing Haitians to Dominica to work, because Dominicans were too lazy to work on the farms .Now the Haitians are making millions on Dominican agricultural lands and sending it back to Haiti.A foreign company was given the contract by UWP to build the valley road. All Dominica’s major roads were built by foreign contractors one of note,Rush and tompkins. All over the world there are thousands of foreigners working on major projects. There is unemployment in the USA yet people like me have worked, sent money to Dominica and built a house. We know damn well a project that would take 3 years to complete, would take 10 with a Dominican in charge.Lazy, lying and jealousy.
Does Dominica really need an international airport?
Our existing airport was upgraded to take medium sized planes and facilitate night landing. Recently American Airlines began daily flights between Dominica and Miami. Already, however, these flights are being scaled down due to insufficient number of passengers. That, to me, answers the question.
Well Spotted Colin.
I have pointed this out before, but then I read the debate between Mr Douglas and Mr Nassief, and realised that they were speaking about multi million dollar Villas in Secrete Bay, and I realised that I had no idea how much the CBI program had at its disposal.
Just to make us realise the risks, I heard on BBC news that China has today discounted $USD 3 billion on its debt with Sri Lanka. They have defaulted on their debt repayment. This is what can happen to Dominica if we follow this crazy program
Most of you say Africans are 3rd Wolders. I am certain that Tanzanians and Kenyans has never tolerated this Chinese bullsh… What happened to the Chinese who thought they could bullsh.. them with a sham railway project. Only in this Dominica, only. Those with a knowledgeable brain can just see these men are fakes, phonies and frauds.
Wayyyy papa! I hope the equipment on the boat is not to build a Chinese settlement. It looks like that is first on the agenda and then maybe the airport. For the hell of me I don’t understand why the government would not host the Chinese workers in them abandoned possie apartments. That would at least bring some cash to the Mouton Batalie diehards labourites there .
That airport, if built will be centrally located in the Chinese City of Phuk-wes-lee (Chinese for Wesley). No way them man building that airport without taking control of everything there (Bars, Supermarkets, Fishing Industry, Prostitution etc). And mark my words they will have their own police force to day-kar-lay Wesley man that think they bad. So my advice to the people of Wesley is take it like grown men with no darn grease or groaning. You all better start learning to read and speak manderin for your own good. But, time will tell….
Waiting for airport, now Skerrit has put the airport in you.A, you singing different sound. You said the same thing about the hospital and the stadium both of them were built, always making a fool of yourself. When Skerrit went to Cuba to negotiate with Fidel for the release of two Dominicans, you said Skerrit did not understand what Fidel said. Two days later the Dominicans were free.
You are hallucinating. The airport Roosevelt is touting is still a ghost. Where is the new hospital that you are referring to? Ease up off those synthetic, mind altering pills.
Skerrit didn’t study civil engineering……cassani did
Anyway earlier Skerrit said that de equipment for the construction of the international airport is too big to load on trucks to make the journey along our Nicholas Liverpool highway so a Jetty would be built in woodfordhill beach to land the equipment and machinery there closer to the proposed site ……but but but he knows most of his ‘supporters not members ‘ are just fools they will ignore his lying tongue for $300 a month.
Where is the chief technical officer? Is he being paid in de position and Skerrit speaking like he knows civil engineering?
De minister of works is de parliamentary rep for the area……he moo moo.
I must confront him!!!!….. he’s a coward just like Skerrit.
I remember Skerrit speaking on de heng saying after de runway he can just put up a 40’ container for the terminal
Something must give way in this crooked venture!!!
Imagine a Caribbean ruling administration boasting about an influx of foreign workers flooding into its country where local unemployment is at an unprecedented high.
Roosevelt has an enduring affinity for foreigners and disdain for born and bred Dominicans. Here is the supporting evidence.
*Reconstruction of bridges after Era & Maria- Bajan contractors
*Building of massive gov’t owned apartments – An Arab investor
*Exclusive use of the CBI money – Same Arab investor
*Lawyers to prosecute the bogus charges against opposition leaders – Trini lawyers
* Electoral reform – Dennis Byron (Kittitian/St. Lucian)
Many high profile positions in various gov’t ministries and departments must be added to the list of foreign invitees.
The foreigners in Dominica are enjoying a windfall while the resident Dominicans have falling into a living hell.
That is the problem, all the idiotic supporters of UWP want to tell DNO what to do and not do.It is those same people who say Skerrit is a dictator. When the St.Vincent international airport was built the same blind, cannot see far UWP idiots said ,Skerrit should ask the Chinese for an international airport.Today the airport is a reality they barking. How these opposition people continue to make fools of themselves year after year is unbelievable.Stadium was a lie,new Roseau hospital a lie,EO Leblanc and NO Liverpool highways a lie,new Grammar school a lie.Everything for those aholes is a lie.Just read a comment by the Spanish W.Every minute of everyday Skerrit making UWP and their supporters look more foolish.
This project will cost $1 billion. Mr Skerrit was not clear if it was a US$ loan or an EC $ loan.
Assuming it is a USD $ denominated loan at (say), this will cost USD$50 million per year for interest only.
Simplifying the figures. the interest will cost $1 million per day. Where can Dominica get 1 million dollars per day from to pay interest?
If I were the good people of Potters Ville, I would ask the ship to weigh anchor and leave the shores of Dominica.
That’s the thing. Was this matter ever discussed in the previous parliament and voted on? Presumably not but he would tell us that the cabinet did vote on the matter which was unanimous. I for one, even doubt that the cabinet voted on it but it is was a decision taken by the dictator. How can we allow this man to put such a financial burden on this country which isn’t going to help anybody apart from his him and his Chinese friends. Should the country be asked to vote on important decisions like that?
Mr Skerrit, has been loud and clear don’t get your nickers in a twist, please avoid confusion or misunderstanding. This international airport will not cost Dominican tax payer a penny it is our money Ok! While you at it clever boy will you ask Edison James, and his so-called workers incompetent party what has he done with the money he borrowed from Trinidad to build that so-called international airport.
How so, DOG? So Chinese building the airport for nothing? You are completely nuts. I will leave it at that, no point talking to someone like you.
@Beta, You should learn to read and also put your single brain in the right place, where have I said China was building the airport for nothing? Get out of here!
You just confirmed that you are blind as a bat. Now I’m clear why you kiss Skerrits massive cheeks….
i thought it was CBI that was funding it
Stop assuming things. You don’t even know whether it is a loan and the amount borrowed plus the interest rate. If you have facts, produce them or stop the foolish speculation.
You are e entitled to your opinion, but please express an informed opinion. If you do not understand something, why make assumptions based on your silly ideological beliefs. The PM have explained how the Airport is going to be financed, https://dominicanewsonline.com/news/governance/pm-announces-upcoming-massive-mobilization-on-international-airport-for-dominica-completion-by-2026/
Hope these machines are not left out to root just to fool people that the airport is coming.
Teddy, ha ha ha how old are you silly girl? Your brains is not fully developed yet
Correction: The dream said: Two score and 7 years ago. This is for posterity
Last night I had a resilient dream. I dreamt that it was March 2047. I was on a plane and the pilot said : “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. This is our inaugural flight into the Dominica China Friendship Airport. The plane landed, and PM Dimitry and his Chinese wife were there to greet passengers. At the welcome event Dimitry spoke saying: Five score and 7 years ago my father stood before you and announced this airport as a pillar of Dominica China friendship. Well here we are today and this airport by the Chinese, of the Chinese, for the Chinese, is a fulfilment of my dad’s agenda. Like my dad, I maintain that the terms and conditions of the airport contract are none of your “dam” business. I looked around and the manager was Dimitry’s brother who studied in China, the workers including the taxi drivers were all Chinese and the lone restaurant was Chinese. Then I heard a voice saying, hen-gao-xing-ren-shi-ni Juanita (nice to meet you)
Everything on point except Dmitri has no bro that studied in China. His brother went to china, spend some time in a school and failed so he had to return.
Dejavu sounds like a leaked press release straight from North Korea. Dominicans just don’t understand that the CM is not their ‘friend’. However, in 10 years time they will find out the hard way.
Juanita, one of my favourite persons on this forum. I’m very much impressed with your verbal dexterity and your (bi/multi) -lingual ability.
This is either a big mistake of good news for Dominica. Good news means more employment, more tourism such that the spending by tourists pays for having such an expensive airport in the long run. A big mistake means that Dominicans have an extra $1 billion of national debt at say 4-5% which they cannot repay in 25 years. China then arranges exports to cover its annual interest and repayments. Mr Skerrit disappears to some part of the world where he already has a controlled foreign company with cash set aside to finance his retirement. Future Dominicans have to repay the debt.
Let us pray that it is a success.
To answer your question, it’s a big mistake. Skerrit believes there are no consequences to him. If was him I would think again. No place in the world to hide nowadays apart from Dominica.
The Chinese are coming to Dominica in droves. Native Dominicans are surely becoming a minority in the country of their birth. What is most mind-boggling about this is that our people are stoically undeterred about it.
Unemployment is a grave problem in Dominica. The Chinese only employ Chinese on their foreign projects. In terms of emp!oh ent and the circulation of money within the country, Dominica benefits little from any project that’s done by the Chinese.
The Chinese are the only ones willing to help. Give us an alternative and then we can weigh our options and decide what’s best for Dominica. Until then, be thankful that we have the Chinese.
In terms of benefits, the main benefits are the projects themselves, roads, bridges etc. and not payroll. I agree that we would like to see some form of local employment from these projects but the greater good are the projects themselves.
A country’s infrastructure is what elevates that country and not the few nickels and dimes which workers can earn from working on a project.
If they are the only ones willing to ‘help’, just leave it alone. There is evidence of their ‘help’ all over the world. I for one am not interested in it. By know we all should know that there is nothing like a free lunch with that lot.
Looks on these guys faces are priceless and says it all…”Really!? Press coverage for the arrival of earth moving equipment? What a slow little country.”
This is the beginning of either a very good idea, or a big disaster for Dominica.
I would suggest that a journalist trawl through the experiences of many African and Pacific countries who have taken Chinese loans for large unjustified infra structure projects, and see how they are coping now.
China has mortgaged these countries and control their food supply and exports for many years to come. The BBC has has done some investigations in this area:
see :
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18901656
To put it in lay mans language, if you start a love affair with a rich girl, she dictates the terms. You as a poor man have to swallow your pride and follow her roles or else you are put out of the door. China is that rich girl and Dominica is represented by that poor man.
@Roland Alan Mitchell
I would not even go as far as African and pacific countries…take a look at what is going on in Jamaica.
Mark my words, in a few yrs, we will have Chinese running for election in Dominica.
Yes have started to quiet the critic
Hope when the air port is completed
That they do used it
God bless our PM
Hope it is name after him
To get the critic angry
Hope you come.and make your financial contribution of 1 million a day to pay off the billion dollars….don’t just talk the talk, walk the walk too.
Thanks for the invitation. My Health has suffered since I took the Covid 19 injections. I am now almost house bound, and my 3 children are just entering university.
I can however use my experience as a Chartered Certified Account since July 1986 to help.
The main concern that I have is affordability. Where are we going to get the cash flow to pay USD$1 million in interest only per week?
How many hotel bedrooms do we have to be selling to cover that cost, from the tax revenue that we can collect? Barbados may be able to afford it at this moment. Because the have an established Hotel business. But not Dominica.
The PM must come clean and show us his projections and assumptions, so that we can have a better idea of what the projected income will be.
Hiding the figures is indicative of cowardice. Trust the people. Show us the projections and we can probably help the country get ready. It will take a Dominica wide effort. expatriates included, to make a success of this project.
Hi Peter,
Do not worry. I plan to make my contribution, God willing, to the success of Dominica. We must however start on the premise that we are all in it. No one is the enemy of the other. Mr Skerrit is my brother, and I am not of the opinion that Prima facie he is a thief. If we have honesty from all parties, and no hatred and jealousy, then we can make a success of this enterprise.
Note well, Mr Benoit Bardoiul, who shows up prominently in the Videos, is a colleague of mine. I sat next to him at the Dominica Grammar school for 5 years from 1971 to 1976. He may be Mr Skerrit’s right hand man, but I know him well. He is a man who should be followed throughout this enterprise. When the Airport is built, he will be the manager and chief customs officer. I wonder what is in his mind now? Fear, Guilt, Anticipation, Doubt.
Remember my analogy, buy a Mercedes Benz 220E 16 years old, for £2,500. Not a new one for £55,000, which I cannot afford. I am still mortgaged for £103,000.
Which school did you attend, preacher man? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Don’t be too hard on preacher man. I believe we all got the gist of his sermon.
Martha,
Do not denigrate the poor Priest. He made an honest comment on something which affects us all- both male and female.
The number of women who get pregnant after carnival, is a well recorded fact at Princess Margaret Hospital- Maternity wing.
They are our responsibility.
We want to create a nation where this does not happen, and a girl has good chances of being self sufficient rom her education. She needs educational and economic emancipation.
thanks God I got a chance to come here at the age of 21, and since July 1986, I have achieved both emancipations. Now I am trying to get my 3 children to do the same with University education, in skills in demand.
Dominica does not have resources for every one to achieve this state from completion of high school. We are a nation of economic migrants.
Migrants take 5 – 10 years to settle down in their adopted country.
They are just jealous and full of hate and discouragement. No matter what the PM does or says, it will always be a negative response from these die-hard UWP fools and bums. Yes, after the International Airport is built, it will be named the “Roosevelt Skerrit International Airport”. Very fitting. These bums just cannot stomach progress under Skerrit. They are full of talk and garbage. Lennox Linton and Fontaine will never become the PM of Dominica. Not on this earth, not on the next one. I have no doubt in my mind that my dream will come true. These bums have never had their dreams come true.
No doubt you will be awarded the contract to clean all toilets in that new airport. Who would be more qualified than you?
That is what made me make money to pay my college tuition and become a Chartered Public Accountant today. What have you achieved in your life? Nothing but messing up the toilet room which I will not clean for you. Skerrit is the Supreme Leader today and tomorrow, sucker.
I know, the white men pay’s people like you well to have his excrements removed. Now you do the same thing for your corrupt political master in exchange for a ticket and an envelope at election time. Poor fellow, you really have achieved a lot.
Preacher, Good job too I second the motion and hope they turn blue with envy bloody suckers 👹😂🤣😈
Could not hear what was being said. Its about time the reporters updated their equipment.
laugh alone I can laugh eno… remember couple years ago dem man clear out the whole site talking about they ready to start building, then a padna go there with his phone couple months after and show the bush that grow back dere?
Dat government just like to put on a show, a psycological manipulation. All that heavy equipment, cameras and big headline. We in March, lets check back by May so and see if they building or if this is just another show by our liar in chief to fool D A people AGAIN.
I maintain, I not believeing nothing dem man say or do about thet airport – unless I see the first plane land!
Did not understand any of that!
Probably speaking Chinese already….
DNO has usurped the function of the Government Information Service (GIS). For the past week or two DNO is ensuring that every comment made by Lying Roosevelt and his sycophantic groupies are posted with alacrity verbatim.
This perennial airport saga will meet the same fate of the national birds, geothermal energy, cruise village, RUSM replacement, Roseau’s rehabilitation, etc. Meanwhile, the Chinese bank accounts will grow FAT like a pregnant elephant.
Just asking. Has DNO now an official agency for Roosevelt’s propaganda efforts?
Ibo, most people believe DNO is more of a propaganda machine for you and your sidekick partner Francisco, both of you are depressed old men with emotional and physical problems, come to think of it most so-called workers incompetent supporters have the same problems.
They have been doing that for a time, just that only very few people noticed.
