Tourism Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton has announced the official launch of Carnival 2025, which is scheduled to take place at the Roseau Promenade at 5:00 PM today.
The minister spoke to State-Owned Radio DBS.
“So, Carnival 2025 will be off to an electrifying start this evening at the Promenade, followed by our grand opening parade that [promises] to dazzle like never before on January 18 [2025],” she said.
According to Charles-Pemberton, the 2024 Dominica Carnival season saw a 20 percent increase in visitor arrivals compared to 2023, injecting millions into the economy and creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs such as costume designers, artisans, and entertainers who showcase their talents to regional and international audiences.
“In 2025, we expect many more visitors from Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, Antigua, the United States, the United Kingdom— in fact, from all over the world,” she stated. “We want visitors to see how communities come together to celebrate the Real Mas in a safe and friendly country.”
For Dominican nationals abroad, she noted that it’s a time to reconnect with old friends, “eat good food, and have non-stop daybreak events until the end of the season.”
Furthermore, Charles-Pemberton mentioned that the newly appointed Festivals and Events Manager, Miss Ayodele Andrew, along with organizers, will work tirelessly to create an environment where revelers can enjoy themselves safely and responsibly.
Performances are expected from the Triple Kay International Band, DJ Sleem, and DJ Remz.

Having fun is healthy. Relaxation and a break from the daily hardships and ordeals of life gives persons the balance they need to keep their mental health intact.
Having said that, much more effort should be placed on social programs than on these festivals. Too many Dominican families can’t afford more than one cheap meal per day.Too many children go to bed on empty stomachs.
By the way, after carnival we hear the bombastic pronouncements as how hugely successful the festival was. The raw data and statistics are never disclosed. Government business which is the people’s business is always shrouded in secrecy. That’s the predominant characteristic of a corrupt government.
Wow!!
Dca has nothing but never ending fete to keep the sewo loving, carefree youth drunk and high so they don’t feel the pain continuously. Look at the number of grown folks (35 yrs and older) still living at their parents home or shacking up with a friend in a couweah two bedroom ply shack in Newtown, Pottersville and even Roseau trying to get something to do. In the countryside, its even worse. Take a drive to Mahaut, Possie or Castle Bruce and you will see what I call idleness. They are there just waiting for a drink and a little handout…smmfh.
Tell me how the hell are few tourists and more fete going to solve our problems? NEP can’t get paid, Fire Service needs equipment, Hospital leaking like a fishpot and does not have drugs, Police in Labasse looking for tires for their vehicles, Civil Servants can’t get a little raise, Rasta cant buy shampoo for their locks, Prostitutes stop giving quwaydee (credit). So go ahead and keep launching more fete ….but time will tell.
when will Dominica have a true development plan to compare to other Caribbean islands? when will cargo ship stop going back with cargo? because of rough seas?carnival? is carnival really creating long tern employment? this highness really have all you talking bubbles as always
after such a dread christmas some people didn’t even get paid ………..alas
de only thing Dominicans can look forward to next year is Carnival, Jazz and Creole and Creole Festival
you people are just USELESS!
Dem ting cannot put money in my pocket
as tourism minister that is all you riding on?
