Blackmoore commends police for major drug bust

National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore has commended officers of the Dominica Police Force for their excellent work following what he described as an “extraordinary cocaine bust”  with a street value of $36 million dollars, this month. According to reports from Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 696.82 kilograms or 1,533 pounds of cocaine were seized at Cabana Marigot from a vessel named La-mere Fatal which was beached on the Cabana Beach in Marigot, after being pursued by the Dominica Coast Guard. The street value of the cocaine seized is EC$18,616,870.25.

He further reported that on Friday, April 12, 2024, another 696.36 kilograms or 1,532 pounds of cocaine and 37 pounds of cannabis were found and seized on a farm holding in the Castle Bruce area.

“The street value for the cocaine is EC$18,801,720.00, while the street value for the cannabis is EC$74,000.

“The extraordinary cocaine bust over the past few weeks with a street value of over $36 million is the biggest we have seen today in the police force history,” he said. “This was as a result of excellent police work and the police officers of the Dominica Police Force must be highly commended.”

Blackmoore urged the public not to be naive, by assuming that this would be the end of the cocaine trade.

According to Blackmoore, his ministry will spare no effort in ensuring that the police force is provided with all the needed resources to confront criminal elements who use Dominica as a transshipment point for dangerous illegal drugs such as cocaine.

“The consequences of this illicit trade are far-reaching,” he stated.

He stated further that with Dominica’s small population size, the effect of such a huge quantity of cocaine is enough to cause havoc such as addiction, crime, and violence.

“There are also other consequences and challenges such as the cross-fertilization of crimes because those who traffic dangerous drugs such as cocaine are the same ones who traffic the illegal firearms,” Blackmoore noted.

He said the Government of Dominica will continue collaborating with partners regionally and internationally and strengthen its systems to curtail this dangerous illicit trade.

I credit this drug bust to the citizen who saw this suspicious sea vessel and alerted the police by cellphone. It was no excellent work by the CDPF.However, it was an excellent thing to get this monumental amount of illicit drugs off the streets.

I hope those drug traffickers will be disabused of the notion that Dominica is safe transshipment port for their poisonous substance, not because it is a haven for international crooks and fugitives from the law.

Blackmoore, you get no credit for you are the absolute WORST Minister of National Security in any jurisdiction in the universe.

Thats the job of the police, not the harassing of the people who walk the streets of their own country , expressing their digust of skerrit and all the lies he is telling, only in dominica those things happen.
You give a man a job, you paying his rent and utilities for him , at the end of the month he get’s his salary, you paying for his security, he took a pay raise and you can not talk and protest in the country where you supporting a man and his entire family, man !!! that guy must go .
In dominica that can happen in any other part of the caribbean that guy would be looking for a job like evey body else. Sing for your self Blackmore.

I guess eventually he would get something Wright. He doesn’t feel no sense of embarrassment. let’s take a closer look. 1 st joseph police station robbed. 2 murder in sufierier for something the police should have sorted. 3 Numerous people escape from the state prison. I cannot blame him for celebrating this and adding it to his CV. As much as I like this guy he is a failure at minister of national security. Simple as that.

Rayburn, can you tell us if you are still interested in the post of commissioner after Skerro decided to forgo his earlier promise and kept you as a Senator since the last sham election? Are you still contemplating that position hence the reason why you are finding fault with every suitable candidate for the position since the current deputy is considered persona non- grata at the moment for the said position?

Is it true that your biggest nightmare is having retired Supt. Weekes being brought back as commissioner inspite of the fact that those in the know are clamoring for him? Will you be able to work effectively with Weekes (keep your hands off the force) and give him the support needed or will Skerro need to move you to another position IF he is given the position?

Partner, Mr. Weeks has no issues with you so why do you despise the man so much? Remember, God don’t like ugly bro. 8)
