
The Fernance and Cyrilla Family Club (FCFC) is pleased to announce that the book launch for Stories by children – Volume 2. “When I grow Up,” is drawing near.
The scheduled date for the launch is December 17, 2022 at the University of the West Indies (UWI) campus.
The positive feedback from readers and well-wishers of Stories by Children, Volume 1- “Family”encouraged the club to initiate Stories by Children Volume 2 – “When I grow up”.
According to a press statement, FCFC stated for this book compilation, a literacy competition was held and entries from the general public were encouraged. At least three winners from different age category were selected which formed part of volume 2, along with entries from children of the family.
One of the winners of the Stories by Children – Volume 2, Serlani Smith stated, “I am so excited that my poem is going to be in a book.”
Before volume 2, On December 11, 2021, the club launched its first book titled Stories by Children Volume 1 – “Family”. The stories in this book were written by different children of the family and is available for purchase at Jays Book Store and from family members. The children’s book is also available for order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Since the book launch, Stories by Children Vol. 1, has been donated to different schools and business places both in Dominica and the Diaspora. The Stories by Children Committee has gone a step further to raise funds and to give back to friends and supporters by holding a raffle which was done on mother’s day 2022. Mrs. Lisa Martin from Grand Bay -first place winner and Miss Keyla Phillip from Grand Fond got second place. Both winners received food vouchers.
Mrs. Nicole Toussaint Jno-Baptiste, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Fernance and Cyrilla Family Club encourages the public to purchase Stories by Children Volume One – “Family” and also Stories by Children Volume Two when it becomes available.
The Fernance and Cyrilla Family Club (FCFC) is on its way in fulfilling its objective of giving children an avenue to develop a love for reading and writing.
